OK, you've got an old AGP radeon card with twin VGA and s-video connections so you can forget all about HDMI and DVI.604!0

This is your graphics card

It has 2 x VGA and 1 x TV/S-Video output.How do I add a signature?0 -
So f I get the 24" monitor it will future proof me for when/if I update the computer?
It is not a waste of money because I won't be able to use the HDMI or DVI conns?
And it will be OK connected via VGA
Have found same monitor at PC World for £115.72.

It will be ok connected by vga (but check it has vga input, although I don't think there are many monitors that don't).
Your computer is not worth upgrading. If you wanted a DVI/HDMI graphics card it would be pci-e not agp. That would mean a new motherboard and cpu and probably psu. About the only thing you could keep would be the case.
If you really want a future proof monitor get one with Display Port, HDMI, DVI and VGA for when you buy a new PC.604!0 -

By update I did mean a new computer, after all this one is 8 years old and will need replacing soon.
