Ebay - Different delivery date in listing.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but can’t find my answer on google.

I won an item on ebay and the reason I bided on this item was because it said free P+P express delivery 4-7 days. When it didn’t arrive I emailed the seller to see when it was posted to estimate when it would arrive. I was then told 15-25 days + 3 days to dispatch!

It clearly says 4-5 days under the P+P tab, but in write up of the listing it says in small print it says 15-25 days + 3 days to dispatch.

I now realise I should have read the listing more closely but there was so much small print I just skim read this, I’m a bit annoyed because now it’s not going to arrive in time.

On the Paypal invoice it also says 4-7 days. The seller is saying this is my fault, is it?

Thanks

    The seller has messed up.

Are you prepared to wait? If not then slam in an INR dispute in Paypal (not Ebay - don't let it divert you).

Its the sellers fault - what it says in the p&p tab is what counts - only a dishonest seller would hide extra delivery times in their listings.

File a none receipt claim when you are no-longer happy to wait.

It's the seller deliberately trying to hide something that would probably put people off - so yes, I think you would be entitled to claim now.

Why so quick for a dispute?
Even if the OP was to open the dispute today and the seller drags their heels responding, it might still be 10 days before the dispute is closed and a refund issued.

Surely the first thing to do would be to contact the seller and ask them to cancel the transaction and issue a refund, which may come the same day, and you would still have the option to leave appropriate feedback.
I would give them one day to respond/refund and if it didn't happen, then I would open a dispute.

I would dispute as the seller clearly hasn't got a clue how to list. So I would presume they have less of an idea on how to refund/keep a customer happy.

However, it's a personal choice and I didn't mention speed, which is why I asked the OP if they were happy to wait. What they do in the interim is up to them.

Maybe the seller made a mistake, but he surely shouldnt blame you for this. The information in his listings should all match each other, and anything that is out of place the seller is now responsible for.

At the end of the day. You have three delivery estimates and two out of three are dates that you agreed to. The third was hidden in tiny small print, which i agree with you, maybe him/her trying to get away with a technicality.

The seller should have apologised for the discrepancy and agreed to get the item to you asap and not be telling you its your fault.

My advice is to email him (nicely) and say to him that you were under the pretense that the item would be with you by this day as it says on the listing and paypal, and you should not be held responsible for an error in his listing. The description is his responsibilty and if he cant accept that, then you are forced to open a case with eBay as item has not been delivered, which may result in negative feedback.

If they do not respond to this then open a case

There is no need to mention feedback. In fact, there is every reason not to.

    Why not?

If you were in the buyers case then wouldn't you? Yes seller made mistake, but that doesnt give him/her the right to blame the buyer for their mistake.

A good seller would have apologised and sent the item out asap to the buyer. Or offered a refund.

Not blame the buyer for not reading the listing correctly, when it was infact the sellers error in the first place.

I am not disagreeing with what you say above, but where is the relevance with mentioning feedback?

Mentioning feedback before a dispute/refund/return/anything can result in said feedback being removed as against policy. Some CS are a little more sensitive to exploitation than others. But the mention of feedback can be considered a veiled threat by CS and will not endear you to any seller. Let them sort it out (or not) without a threat.
