No, it is not - check the DMG, there is no provision for the DWP to provide vouchers to alcoholics.

I have seen them and know of people that get them, there may be no provision but they do exist, it might be a Northern Ireland only thing though.

Can you show us some evidence please, and/ or tell us who issues them? Genuine request!

I think what they were saying is that they knew that they were fraudalent claims but were told to get the result and don't ask any questions - just do it!

That's DIAL off the list of people I would ask for help from if that is what they are up to.

DIAL are a veru good charity and do an awful lot of good work for disabled people.

just to clarify what i mean .....

i would watch someone ( unknown to them) walk quite happily from the car park and aroubnd the corner to our office door. on one occasion the client did this holding crutches ( not using them)

but when he walked through the door he was using the crutches and still seemed to be in severe difficluty. if i hadnt witnessed the fact that seconds previously, he walked without the crutches with no difficulty, then i myself would have accepted him at face value.

we started filling the forms in, and i knew he was telling me a pack of lies. i spoke with my manager, who told me it wasnt my job to judge... that was up to the DM at DLA. i should just ask the questions and use the information that the client gave.

this man went on to receive high rate mobility.

    i stopped volunteering.

An official reference - from the DWP website? As I mentioned, I cannot find anything in the DMG that would cover this. Is it the DWP that issues the vouchers you refer to, can they spend them anywhere etc?

If you have looked and couldn't find a reference why do you place more faith in my ability to find one?

maybe someone else can back up what I have said but sorry I can't produce a source.

I'll have a quick Google though as you have now given me reason to question your Googling skills ;)

If you cannot find an official source (emphasis on official because it sounds like a Daily Mail story!), I would suggest it does not exist.

Oh crap I get all my sources from The Daily Mail, I best stop googling now then if that is not acceptable :D

I have checked with a CAB advisor and they have no knowledge of it, nor is it detailed in the CPAG. I honestly don't think it exists - the only equivalent I can think of are food vouchers, but they are redeemable at the Trussel Trust Foodbanks, and Healthy Start vouchers, but they are for small children and only redeemable against certain items.
