all i can say is that i volunteered at DIAL fir 2 years.
i stopped because u couldnt justify a lot of the claims ythat were successful because of my skill in filling the forms out.
i was told that it wasnt my job to jusge.... just to get the best possible outcome dor people that asked for our help.

in my case id estimayr that a good 60% bof claims were accepted due to my skill in completing the forms.

io was no longer prepared to be complicit .....
Any chance u could offer me some help then mate?
as my sons claimhas been rejected and we need to appeal

I don't doubt that for a minute nannytone. However, the wording on these forms is critical as you know. Especially working for an organisation like dial, you're also getting people in who could be illiterate, have MH problems etc etc. If the form were easier for people to fill, they wouldn't need to go to places like DIAL or CAB or WRO for their assistance.

Besides, OP's question has been asked and answered. This isn't about fraud or how difficult the forms are to fill in :)

so why answer a point that is off topic, it's OK for you but not others ;)

DLA is based on care and mobility needs.

It is possible for some people that thier addiction problems came as a result of self-medicating, mental health issues, vulnerability etc. It is not always apparent.

However, I am a support worker and I have seen blatant abuse of the system and huge disparity in assessment of need:(

I welcome, not only checks and reviews but also an approach that encourages other ways of addressing problems rather than cash payments.

That's what I meant by 'huge disparity in assessment of need'

At least you can appeal any DLA decision and keep reapplying.

We all know that care and mobility needs change - especially for children.
I don't know your personal circs but I wish you and your son all the best.

I just watched your video and can't believe you weren't awarded DLA for your son. It's a disgrace.
I got my daughter's letter about her tribunal in the post today - they put the exact opposite of what I wrote in the form and appeal letter - twice! It's like they can't read, and they have just ignored what the doctor, school and psychologist have written.
