Just read the piece of paper I got with it and it clearly says only up to the value of purchase price annoyed as I asked first so have been mis sold this.0

I also took the warranty as was told it would be for an equivalent spec or higher so have read through my paperwork. Very crafty wording so will be sending an email as not happy with the possibility of things going wrong and only getting purchase cost credited towards a replacement, it may just be a case of they have not made it clear but best check.
When we went back to the store I asked about the warranty and this arrogant man said there are always ways round it and I would get a replacement of the same spec as they can override this then he asked another person and she said the same but added - or I would get vouchers for the purchase price I said what the paper said and he said and I quote "I've never read that and I'm not about to start now" so I read it to him and he shrugged it off I gave up in the end but. Customer service was awful.0 -
Thanks OP. I am loving my playbook. I know this is the wrong place to ask, but........
Do I need any security on my playbook?
Is there any way of downloading my photos directly on to the playbook?
I have been assured there is a scrabble app but I can't find it. Does anyone know if it exists?
Happy to try to help you. I've had a Playbook since Christmas last year. I don't have any virus protection/security on my Playbook although if I'm taking it out and about, I do put a password on it. I do this in case I leave it somewhere.
Not sure what yoy mean about downlaoding photos to it? I'm sure you're already aware you can take excellent quality photos with it. I also have a digital camera and upload photos from it to my home PC. I then use the Blackberry Desktop software to copy across any photos I would like to also have on my Playbook.
I hope that helps.
Regarding Scrabble, have you looked at App World on your Playbook? You can search then for 'scrabble' and a number of options come up. Not sure if they are what you are looking for?0 -
With the current O/S the only reason you'd need to bridge to a Blackberry phone is to use its Internet connection or to have the convenience of using BBM on the Playbook's much larger screen.
Agreed - another use for the Blackberry phone is as a remote for your Playbook. I connect my Playbook to my TV via HDMI to watch catchup tv (iPlayer etc). It's handy being able to use the Blackberry phone as the remote when I do this.0 -

Thanks for your reply. I have checked apps store but they don't have scrabble. My mum would have liked to take photos on her dslr whilst on holiday, transfer them onto PlayBook and email home.0 -

I'm not an expert on this at all, so it may be perfectly possible to do, with the right cable. Worth having a look at what could connect the camera to the micro-USB connector on the Playbook?0 -

Grr, I've rang blackberry support and they basically said the verion that i've just bought has had a software update but they dont know whos updated it and it isnt installed correctly on this one and thats why it wouldnt let me complete the set up, they said I could reinstall the latest software but that would take and hour to hour and half over the phone with him!
Oh Yes - I've been there done that and have the teeshirt. In fact I'm doing it right now with the Playbook that I bought yesterday
The setup wizard goes all the way to the end (including connecting successfuly to the wireless - or so it says) then fails at "Checking for updates" with a "Could not activate this tablet (3001) error"
This seems to affect some of the Playbooks sold with older revisions of the O/S.
The solution is to install the Blackberry Desktop software on a computer (100Mb or so download), switch off the Playbook and connect it to the computer with its supplied USB cable. Click Update when prompted. An absolutely HUGE software update will then be downloaded and installed - note that this takes a very long time - about an hour. On completion, disconnect the Playbook from the computer and complete the setup wizard and you are good to go.

I think this problem is specific to some older revisions of the Playbook O/S and also the wifi type, as not everyone seems to encounter it. This is the second occasion I have come across it personally.
Hopefully the above process and link will save a few hours of wasted time for someone. Alternatively you could try a different wifi0 -
There's another thread about unreliable power supplies and/or power sockets.0

I have one of these ordered, as did my mum, but she went to look at it in PC World and wasn't impressed. Would this be any good for a 9 year old? She would basically use it for playing dress up/do your hair/ temple run type games, watching films & listening to music, and a little bit of web browsing. I will use it for internet, some TV- any good for downloading on there directly, rather than streaming, or is it better to connect to my laptop and transfer it over? We don't have a blackberry in the house, we have a Samsung, but it is able to tether to that for 3G if needed, right?0
