google car

Hi

A google street view car has been parked in the road next to where i live for the last 3/4 months. They drive it up and down two roads about once a week and apart from that it is just parked in the road 24/7 i find this quite odd has anyone else had a google car parked in their road for such a long period of time?

I wouldnt know - I have better things to do with my time than google cars .
but then, our car is probably only used for twenty minutes a day unless its Thursday - then its used for over an hour to enable me to go shopping. and a couple of times a year .......shock ..........we drive to a holiday destination and use it to drive around there. then its back to its home outside our house. OH uses his van for work and I dont drive - so most of the time the car is immobile outside the house. If my nieghbours in the next couple of streets want to spend their time watching my car on google - I would say - get a life!

I think the Op means an actual 'google car' , meritaten :)

One of those that drove up and down streets in the UK etc to get pictures of the streets to create the streetviews on google maps

Has it actually got the camera attachment on the top OP, or it it possibly just and advertising car? It seems strange they would it leave it parked by the roadside with loads of expensive equipment attached.

perhaps I have misinterpreted the post - it wouldnt occur to me that a car would be used to film streets and parked there for months. or that it would have a sign saying 'Google Car'!
hmmmm - a car displaying google car signage - is that to warn people that they are being filmed for posterity?
lol oh hang on - the guy up the street works for Sky - his van is parked outside all night (and the better part of the day). does that mean that Sky is watching us?

Like this? Does it have the camera equipment?

Or is it just a car where someone has sold advertising space to Google?
