  • hi just thought id post this to yous all but if your waiting for anything off bvc you can sing for it cos as from yesterday(wednesday) they stop production i no this cos i used to work there making the doors for them you would have had problems with parts because the roofs were made a few hundred miles away and it was getting moved up to the north east site any questions please feel free to ask gives me something to do lol
  • i allso worked at bvc and it was not only bvc at fault it was wickes 2
  • Hi nogood who are you lol wat part of bvc did you work at
  • I posted earlier as willgoodwin, lost log in details,

we dropped the product as I previously mentioned, THANK GOD,

we have some residual problems so unlike Wickes I took direct action,

I sent a van from the north east to Brighton, gave the customer his money back (in cash) and uplifted the conservatory,

we then ran all over England and used parts from this incomplete conservatory to finish other conservatories,

a good solution I though, we them gave the customer a special deal on another conservatory which he accepted,

    result everybody happy,

I will not pass comment on Wickes, DIY2GO or any other supplier of this product but we were morally (and legally) bound to help our customers,

further I refused to pay BVC without some compensation for our troubles, stress on my staff in trying to get parts and answers,

    they agreed,

I know have a 3/4 BVC conservatory which I am not adverse to sending parts to people to complete there project for the cost of the carriage or post,

    get back to me,

    kind regards BB
  • I have just finished reading with complete synpathy and understanding the numerous complaints people have had with both Wickes and BVC in trying to complete their conservatories. We bought a conservatory last year, and we appear to be one of the lucky ones... we are only missing one part. However we have now had months and months of stress in trying to locate the final part so we can complete the build! The part we need is a standard lean-to rafter, it has to be approximately 2500mm - any longer isn't a problem as we can cut!
Is there anyone out there who happens to have one of these spare from your parts? We are more than happy to pay in advance for it, and can arrange collection by courier to anywhere in the UK - please can you help?
I have emailed Willgoodwin seperately as I hope (I really hope!) he can help, but I thought I would also ask anyone else in case they can help.

My thoughts are with all of you - I know from months of upset how stressful this whole situation can be. Good luck all!
  • Hi

We seem to be in the same position as many other people on here. We have roof parts missing which are supposed to have been delivered in the last two weeks, promises which never seem to materialise. We have also found out that BVC have gone into administration.

Do you know what 'system' was used to make the conservatory as I have been asked to find out in order to source the parts from elsewhere.

If you have quite a few parts spare, can I send you a list to see if you have any of them that we could possibly pay the shipping costs for?

    Thanks
  • Im sorry to hear people with problems on the BVC product.
My company was brought in to replace cannons in August to do the deliveries.
When BVC went into administration we had actually got the deliveries to 100% compliance on deliveries for the last 13 weeks, I think we came too late because The DIY retailers had lost faith in BVC and decided to stop selling the BVC product, In fact one of the retailers has decided not to sell conservatories at all.
BVC owed my company quite a bit of money. KPMG are still in there at the moment.
The good news is that we are sat on loads of BVC stock. At the moment I cant do anything with it until KPMG come back to me and say the stock is mine, which is something I am pursueing.
I will come baqck to the blog as soon as I have any further Information. I know that does not help you guys who have started to build, But the ones still waiting for parts, this may help.

as i see it wickes have no connection with the other companies apart from renting space ie shops/stands inside wickes stores.
surely any customer knew that they were not buying off wickes?
or have i got this whole thread completely wrong?

i shop with wickes on a regular basis, and the staff are very good. any problems ive had, have been sorted out quickly and with courtesy.
    Get some gorm.

We are in the first stage in deciding what make of conservatory to buy.Previously I had looked at some in Wickes and B&Q.Do they ever put these products outside the shop on display?
Currently we have had a look on Ebay.Synseal and Ultraframe are the two we have really taken a hard look at.I even saw the wind test videos.

I have yet to take firm quotes from the sellers but I will always be sure to hear that each company will slag the other one off about their product.
Some will say the steel bases are not tested enough. Some will say they are great.
Three out of the four sellers I spoke, only one said that,as my projection(away from the house)is over 3metres I will need planning permission. This is something I already knew, but it would have been nice to be advised.
Some will say that all their buildings are made in one factory, instead of the roof coming from a different place etc.

What is the central heating flue regulations? Is it 300mm or 450mm?I have been advised to contact Corgi and give them the boiler model and flue details. It only a small Ideal cylinder flue(not power type)

I hope to still go down the DIY route as I think I could save about 35%-50%.
I do hope to find a builder who is good enough to do the job and can only pray that all the parts are there for whichever company I use.
I see that www.whatprice.co.uk gives a good example of a conservatory including installation.Anything under that then I hope to be quids in.
I may try for a installation quote on www.myhammer.co.uk or www.mybuilder.com and see if I can guage some estimates.
    Anyone bought Synseal or Ultraframe?
I don't mind if you are a newbie or have only a few posts.

Cazzkins have you had any luck in getting a full refund.I was surprised to read your comments especially regarding the 'I am on the deadline of 120 days'.I have pm you.

Bornidol I saw you on Ebay too.
  • I went through the Conservatory tangle a couple of years ago..If you are building it yourself?? I bought mine from Redbrook Conservatories..I found their spec very high..Mine was a bespoke conservatory specially built to my dimensions..We had a few teething problems along the way but they were very helpful in after sales support (i.e after they had my money)..People that come around comment on what a high quality conservatory it is and quite frankly I looked at the B&Q/Wickes ones and it knocks spots off theirs IMHO
