DLA is awarded for care and/or mobility needs and transfers from a child's claim to an adult claim at the age of 16. It is not means tested.
What is DCA?0 -
hiya
thanks for the speedy reply
so d l a and d c a will go straight to the 16 year old son. Is that correct?? They where under the impression that because he is 16 and not working or in college it would be stopped.:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -
What is DCA?
I didn't say that this benefit or the DLA would go to the son. I said that DLA is awarded for care and/or mobility needs, and at the age of 16, it transfers from a child's claim to an adult claim. If the lad continues to have care and/or mobility needs, he may continue to receive DLA. As a 16 year old, it can be paid directly to him, but in some cases it is more appropriate to pay it to their parent or guardian - for example, my son is disabled and will never be able to manage money himself. He knows you need money to buy things, but has no idea of value, the cost of things, etc. He would happily hand over 10p to pay for a book, then hold his hand out for change
So, what is DCA? Maybe I can answer your question once I know which benefit you are referring to.0 -
I suppose it's no use suggesting the girl has an abortion and goes back to school?
Okay, sorry, sorry, I will go and crawl back under my rock now.
No no, entirely up to you. I did also say, "If she was mine then I would make her". Us again, the tax payers paying for it. Then again his/her upbringing is shocking to say the least. They have had no stable upbringing what so ever:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -

I too don't know what DCA is so can't advise. DLA however will still be paid if the conditions for receipt are met but will soon change to PIP.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I wonder if the DCA is referring to Carers Allowance, paid to the mother? If so, she can continue to claim it so long as she meets the eligibility criteria. His pregnant girlfriend can claim it when she turns 16 if he prefers.

Regardless of what the boy's disabilities must be in order to be getting DLA and the care rate, will he be able in anyway what so ever to support an innocent child?okay, advise for a friends, friend

Good god no. He can,t support himself one little bit. They can see which road this is going down, quite sadly and a baby will be involved.
It will be down to the grandmother.:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -
