Are you actually asking if you can rip off whoever sold you the perfectly fine iPod because your son broke it?

What a good life lesson that would be for him...

Claiming on an insurance policy provided for accidental damage isn't ripping somebody off. There are a good half dozen cards out there who provide that protection free of charge, specifically for careless sons :D It's nothing to do with whoever sold them the Ipod.

I guess I'm confused then. If the card has accidental damage cover, then you can claim if its within the timescale surely? If its not in the time scale, or you dont have insurance, then no?

I dont understand how it is a question if it is simply an insurance and not a chargeback case... thats why I was suspicious of what is actually being asked. Either you have valid insurance, or you dont.

My son bought an iPod Touch with his birthday money and I paid for it on my credit card - he's dropped it and the screen is smashed - his fault totally BUT would we be able to claim for it on the credit card..however we bought it 106 days ago. I'm thinking it's usually 90 days to claim but not sure AND it WAS his fault.

thanks in advance for replying to this thread. :(:(:(

What did the card company say when you asked them?

Same with my MacBook when it fell out the car door about 18 months ago.

Apple know that if you have an iPod/iPad/iPhone, you'll but iTunes products, therefore they want you to have one.

  • If getting a free one from Apple doesn't work, you can get a repair done for about £50: audioout.co.uk/p-2179-ipod-touch-4g-front-screen-replacement.aspx

Or you can give it a go yourself for < £20 if you're good with that kind of thing:

The 120 day timescale is for chargebacks. There isn't a chargeback code for accidental damage.

Did you read the 1st line of my post
If it was a Visa card then there is no cover for accidental damage.

exel1966. Which is why I said VISA.

I don't think the Op knows if they have insurance cover or not.
Op has not come back and said who is the card provider. Visa or Mastercard.

Why are you quoting Visa chargeback timescales when there is no chargeback cover ?

Which is also why I said Visa has no cover for accidential damage. But we still don't know what card was used.

C/b timescales just to advise OP, for future reference. :o
