in Credit cards
My son bought an iPod Touch with his birthday money and I paid for it on my credit card - he's dropped it and the screen is smashed - his fault totally BUT would we be able to claim for it on the credit card..however we bought it 106 days ago. I'm thinking it's usually 90 days to claim but not sure AND it WAS his fault.
thanks in advance for replying to this thread.

You'd only be able to claim if the card specifically offered such cover. Most don't.
Even then, claim timescales are usually limited.

I'd doubt it if he dropped it.0

we are covered for accidental damage on home insurance but it's how much it's going to cost and how much the excess is..just trying to find out how much a repair will cost.
thanks for your replies0 -
If it was a Visa card then there is no cover for accidental damage.
Visa timescales are a max of 120 days, from date of debit. This is both debit and credit cards.
Although there are some cases where it can be longer.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -

Excess. Loss of no claims bonus. Impact on future premiums.
It might not be worth claiming for something small.
Some fee paying bank accounts may have gadget insurance included. If you've got one, double check. But it's a long shot.0 -
What's the card exactly ? Without knowing it's just a guessing game !
Many companies offer 90 days cover, some I believe offer a little more, but not sure if up to 106 days?0 -

The 120 day timescale is for chargebacks. There isn't a chargeback code for accidental damage.0 -

What about the Capital One Classic and Barclaycard Simplicity cards ? Both offer 90 day purchase protection cover.0 -
Are you actually asking if you can rip off whoever sold you the perfectly fine iPod because your son broke it?
What a good life lesson that would be for him...0 -
