13 month old kindle develops a fault
Comments
-
I had same issue 13 month kindle, screen froze, reset then would not powerup, just distorted start page. Only 12 books in it!
On looking at discussions appears to be a common fault.
So thought no problem Amazon will agree it is an inherent fault and replace.
Basically no chance!! after much talking, even emailing MD all they would offer was a reconditioned kindle for £50, 90 day warranty. They appear to have loads of reconditioned ones obviously from those that failed within 12 months.
Over the past years have probably spent over £3000 at Amazon
But will never buy anything from them again! The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon0 -
Buy an identical model and put the old one in the new packaging and return it as faulty0

That is wrong it is their fault, their customer service should be aware of the basics of the SOGA which states goods should last for a "Reasonable Time" which 13months could easily be considered unreasonable time.0 -

No its not, it is down to the buyer to obtain an independent report after 6 months of the original purchase date to prove that the fault with the device is inherent.
It is down to the consumer to prove, not the retailer after the initial 6 month period.
The 6 months would run from the original purchase date, not the date of replacement.0 -
6 months from the original purchase? even if the replacement could be delivered on the day 25 of the 6th month?
No way. Of course, the 6 months would run from a replacement date.
However, all this 6 months saga is irrelevant, because 6 month burden of proof reversal corresponds with european regulations, not soga, and only relates to replacements/reairs. If you want to ask for a refund, not replacement, you still have to prove. It is better to forget the ueropean regulations, which in your case are not as good for you, and rely on old tested
sale of Goods act, which only mentions reasonable time.
It is very important to understand, that for us British consumers there is a choice, what law to use. You can opt for European legislation, under which getting a full refund is a big problem unless very soon after purchase, or alternatively you can opt for SoGA. It gives you stronger rights re. refund.
There is also a simple contract law, you can choose to use that instead, it is also applicable.
a kibdle which broke after 13 months is not of a good, durable quality.
it is clear. The only thing you need to get an independent opinion of - that the fault is not a result of misuse.
Pretty much every repair centre can give you such the opinion. If they say it is misuse- you knw it is not worth claiming then. If they say it is a fault - ask them to right it down. You will get a full refund.0 -

You even edited the post and it is still gibberish! Been on the sauce again?0 -
Amazon were really good when I washed my husband's kindle in the washer.
I didn't even buy it from them - I bought it from Tesco. They offered me a brand new replacement (original one cost £159) for £50. Considering it was my own fault I was very impressed by them. 0
