    Replied to your PM. :)

    As all's running well, uninstall combofix.

    Open a Run command box. (Start > Run or Windows key + R on your keyboard) and copy/paste this command in:

    ComboFix /uninstall

    Note the space between ComboFix and /uninstall , it needs to be there.

    Click OK

    let combofix uninstall itself.

    I have a little pop up box saying 'combofix is uninstalled'

    many thanks

    No problem.

    No particular rush - do it in your own time if you're busy - but If you still have it, post the contents of attach.txt - one of the two files created when you ran the first bit of software, DDS

    It has a list of installed programs and I can point out any security vulnerabilities among them.

    Sorry I haven't done this yet as I have got behind with work and am going away this weekend. My son (who does not live at home nor use my wi fi connetion) has had exactly the same issues so I've had to help with that, but a system restore finally sorted that. Then yesterday my other son who does live at home has also got the same issue, but his laptop has many other issues so we are having toruble doing a system restore.

    It's all got a bit hectic and I haven't even got a suitcase out to pack yet!

    Incidentally, the only thing all of the PCs have in common is that we all use Virgin and we are all running McAffee, both sons use Firefox but they are not recent installs (where mine was). So potentially a Mcaffee or Virgin issue- but blooming annoying
