Get some calories, and we can pick up later, I will be out after 13:30 but I'll have my netbook with me when I get to the (cough Pub) Office:D

The way I'm feeling I won't be far behindyou- surely I can have a drink now even though I haven't had breakfast yet?

    UPDATE:

I did a quick scan, also run Ccleaner and a system restore to an earlier date- and I am back online! However, babylon has come back and I've uninstalled Google Chrome, as that is where I can see it. I'm about to rescan now, but will check the sticky threads for a better scanner as I think this is a virus.

    Enjoy your 'work' at lunchtime...

I am more convinced now this is a virus, I have the usual not able to download certain AV programmes- currently trying symantec but that has been trying to load for several minutes now...

KI promise I'm going now and i'll leave you to your work. However when i try and download something from the sticky thread it just gets hijacked by babylon , the original download 'sticks' and I get a pop up box telling me to try downloading again, but in the very small print there is mention of it being 'babylon'. So it is taking over my attempts to scan.

I'll get this if I have to take a sledgehammer to it.....

I've managed to get Sophos to load and I'm running that, nothing detected so far - will report back later.

I am convinced though that there is a virus.

This should take 2-3 minutes and should give an indication if anything is untoward.

Download DDS from the link below and save it to your desktop:

    Link

After you've downloaded it and saved it to your desktop:
    • Double click DDS to run it.
    • When it's finished, DDS will open two logs:
    1. DDS.txt
    2. Attach.txt
Save both reports to your desktop.

Copy & paste the contents of just DDS.txt for now and post it here (you may need to split the log over separate posts)

Sorry I have not ignored this but I have started tryign to clean my sons laptop as well as he started having a problem.

My own scan with Sophos showed nothing so I am currently trying a Panada scan, and 16% in it has already detected 3 infected files. It looks like Panda is long haul, so I will wait till that finishes before I do anything else.

Thanks everyone though, I was really panicking this morning- and at least I have my connection back now.

Is downloading Firefox normally a problem like this?

I hope you're not installing these new anti-virus programs without removing the previous one(s) or you could give yourself a load of new problems - especially if they have on-access scanners
How do I add a signature?

It'll be far quicker to do the DDS scan rather than all these long scans that could take hours.
