Your broadband modem is experiencing connectivity issues

    Then a list of suggestions
1- unplug modem (already tried) then basically restart and it should be fine etc

Useful , we really didn't know that did we , ok did it fix anything at all (I know the answer will be nope)

OK assuming no then press Windows button and R together, type in CMD and press enter. In the cmd prompt window type in ipconfig /all and press enter, look for the block saying Wireless adapter and copy and paste it here

I can't cut and paste as I'm doing this on the iPad and doing the work on the PC.

Under the bit that says wireless LAN adapter wireless network connection it says>
    Connection specific DNS suffix description
    Realtek RTL8188CU wireless LAN 802. 11n US

  • Missed your other question:o about the laptop, yes we could use that to get into the router if necessary, if it needs configuring then the ethernet cable route would be better if the router needs to restart its wireless

    Just an update

I managed to get hold of my sons laptop, plugged it all into the router with the Ethernet cable and phoned virgin.

They have reset everything , but say it all looks fine. I checked my main PC again and also checked it was the same network, but it still shows me as having no Internet access.

They said I could dismantle the Whole lot, take it downstairs and re set again, but they feel it is now more likely to be an issue with my PC.

They suggested that certain sorts of virus' can disable the connection, but I've done a full scan already that showed nothing. However something had disabled my windows protection as I got a warning when I rebooted and I cannot turn it back on.

I'm going to rescan now and go and have some breakfast as I've been doing this for several hours and I'm beginning to think I ought to go down to Costco and buy a new QPC.

Thank you for your help , fit was very welcome. I may be back once I've done a full scan and looked for nasties.
