There is no need for that, you are entitled to raise a formal complaint on the first occasion that you are not 100% satisfied with a customer service outcome. If you remain dissatisfied 8 weeks after first complaining you are then entitled to refer the issue to the Energy Ombudsman.
Not sure which issue(s) you should best cite. I cannot say your bill was wrong, what I can say is that over £3000 usage in a year, on the face of it, is excessive. I would not have accepted that so easily.
Reporting six defaulted payments in one month appears to me to be incompetence by E.ON.
I'm really annoyed by E.on. I've been so careful to keep my credit report "in the green" with no late payments to anyone at all. When I left E.on last year the meters were never read but I received an estimated final bill suggesting £239 was owed.
I knew this was wrong because I keep on top of fuel payments and never let the balance run away.
I disputed the bill but they insisted it was correct and eventually agreed to set up payment by instalments to clear the balance. Xmas time, I wanted to purchase something on a 0% finance deal but was turned down and referred to Equifax. I was surprised as I've had two accounts with this company in the last 18 months, both cleared correctly.
I looked at the Equifax file only to see a sea of E.on green payments but one red mark in September 2012 with a "6" in it suggesting the account was 6 months behind. There were green payments in the months before and after the red mark.
I've tried through both Equifax and E.on to have this corrected, but both refuse to do anything. Where can I go from here as it's obviously effecting my report and life? :mad:0 -
Hi thecasementkid
I'm sorry we've caused you annoyance. I've been talking to one of our credit reference specialists about this.
It looks as though this has come about because of a delay in setting up a payment arrangement.
The green months will be where a payment arrangement was in place with payments being received on time in accordance with the agreement.
The red month will be a reflection of an outstanding balance at the time we shared with Equifax. This suggests there wasn't a live payment arrangement in place at that time.
When you disputed the bill, a complaint would have been raised and this would have shown as a 'Q' on the credit report. If no payment arrangement was put in place when the complaint was closed, this would have shown as a red mark.
When we share information with Equifax, we give them a true reflection of the status of the account at the time of the share.
The 6 shows there was a balance that was at least 6 months old at the time of the share. Now there's a payment arrangement in place it will show as zero/green.
Going forward, once the account has been settled, we'll share an 'S.' This shows the debt has been cleared and the account finalised. This will reduce the impact of the 6.
Hope this is of interest.

I am interested why E.ON are still reporting my account to Equifax. My account wasin credit when I transferred to EDF and I was sent a cheque for the balance. My final bill was dated 27 Sept 12 but E.ON are still reporting, luckily as green, even though I no longer have any dealings with them. Surely that is inaccurate reporting.0

Resurrecting this old thread.
Just pulled my Equifax report and EOn are still reporting my account monthly, a good 16 months after my final bill.0 -
Hi molerat
Are we still reporting to date? Or, are the previous reports still showing?

Hi molerat
Oh! I see. You're right to question that. It doesn't sound right to me either.
If you drop an email with your details to the address in my Profile, I'll be happy to take a look and find out why it's still happening.

I have had an answer back from Malc and it seems their computer system has screwed up and is still reporting some closed accounts but is now being looked at.0

The simple moral of all these posts seems to be - don't get into debt!
But then I'm very old fashioned - I never buy anything that I can't pay cash for (except for the house) and if I can't afford something then I go without it. That way I am able to pay the council tax, energy bills food and basic clothing. Strict budgeting is the order of the day.0
