  • I would suggest those who post here who are not on benefits or here in a sympathetic capacity are in it to engage in nosy curtain twitching, a perk of being a Benefits basher. Or so you think.

I don't see why companies in tax disputes (BBC Parliamant select commitee margret hodge ) are anonymised whereas we are keen to publicise the often wrongly errant benefits claimants.
    Must be the sitting target.
I am glad that Big business tax evasion/avoidance is being exposed at bit in the media don't think public anger is what it could be for it.

My daughter (19) was due to go to college but has found out she is pregnant and does not want to continue onto college. she has been getting JSA over the summer break but needs to sign off for college. what benefits will she be entitled to if she does not go to college. She will be still at home and I am on benefits due to being a carer.

Just to go back to the beginning...

If this young lady has only just discovered that she is pregnant then she has a long time ahead of her before she needs to stay at home and wait for the birth. I think I would encourage her to do something over the next 6 months. One or maybe two terms at college? She has a whole future ahead of her and pregnancy isn't the end of her whole life. Sorry I can't advise about your main question - benefits - but IMHO it is important that she doesn't write off her whole life and whole future too early.

BTW about those who are/are not on benefits. I'm not on any means-tested benefits but I do get retirement pensions. I've been poor, twice in my life so far, if 'poor' means no income at all and no access to any. I also do know that life is short, that time in youth can easily be wasted and opportunities lost may never be recovered.
