Oh I know its looming, and Ive advised my chidren to pay as much into a pension as they can Ive already got mine, well 60% of it, which is why I said thank you.
We're digressing anyway, my only point in first posting was to stop with the nasty remarks, which are not in the spirit of the MSE forums. I bet the poor lady wishes she had never started the thread.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

I don't normally look on the benefits board but as I am just claiming ESA on behalf of my severely disabled teenage son I thought I'd have a look. I don't think it's a board I'll be returning to too often in future.0 -

Unfortunately you always get some on the benefits board. If you need help with benefits it can be a great place and has helped me immensely with my dds ESA/DLA. So don't let some put you off getting advice if you need it. There's always going to be a few.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Serious question ... what do you think is looming? I've never not worked and have a very small private pension (projection of about £3k a year!), no savings and don't own any property. Even people who have paid hefty amounts into pension schemes have seen share collapses decimate their decent pension to almost nothing. If the current pension system collapses, what happens to people like me? After a lifetime of paying taxes there'd better be SOMETHING there for me to live on ... or at least enough for a bottle of vodka and lots of paracetamol! (joke!)DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

Can't your daughter start her AS levels, is there child care at the college for once the baby is born. No need to not go to college just to have a kid.0

I'm getting £20 a week child benefit, which I top up to £100 a month and it goes straight to my 2 year old son's account. It's the only benefit either of us has ever ever claimed.
Be careful about tax unless it is being paid to a CTF or other tax exempt scheme.

Good advice, and perhaps the child's father will assist with the child-rearing."If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

Don't worry. £100 a month at 3% is only £18 interest a year.

That's after more than 18 years of work for both me and OH, and well over half a million quid paid in tax over that time between us.
Does that seem a good deal to you?
Sick of these pontificators making judgements. You never know what position you will be in. It can change overnight. I have beekn in much better financial situation than you, stop gloating and look to protect your future. Half a million- pittance!
Stop gloating, you may eat your words someday. Pride comes before a fall, especially nowadays.0 -

My future is extremely well protected, thank you.
I suspect the OP's daughter in this case will be significantly better off for many years thanks to the baby she's carrying. And that's the rub. I was working 60+ hours a week at 19 to build a career and pay my own way. Nowadays seems a quick sh@g and your future's set.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
