I am 62, and have more towels than I need at this moment in time. But, I am going to hang onto them, because I am hoping for another 20+ years of life, and I will never have to buy another towel again. Put them away in the back of a cupboard and forget about them. You will need them one day.

Thats my problem, i put everything, (not just towels) away 'cos they may come in useful, And the house is bursting at the seams.

I freecycled a lot of old ones - lots of dog owners responded, especially people who's dogs were having puppies.

Roll them up & use them as draught excluders in winter.

Consider giving them to a drop in centre for the homeless.
I gave some old towels to one near us and they flew off the shelves.

or if you have a womans shelter nearby ask your local social worker she will know if you can't find one (they usually are not advertised for obvious reasons. My DD took a lot of grown out of toys to the local SW and she passed them on for her .Often women end up in refuges with just the clothes they stand up in and their children have left most of their toys behind.

It's towels, JackieO, not toys but your advice is still valid. Refuges will need towels AND toys.

If you drive keep a couple in the car - cant remember how many times I wish I had done so - including today when I got caught in torrential rain and got soaked in a 30 second dash to the car!
as has been said - rolled up they make excellent draught excluders.
Hand towels also make good car wash mitts - fold in half, then in half again and stitch down two paralel open sides, you then put your hand in under one layer of towel and you have a nice thick mitt to either wash or polish the car. you can polish furniture with the mitt too!
or give them to a good cause!

refuges need almost anything as they are always needing even the most basic things that we take for granted Imagine leaving you home with just your children to go to a place of saftey and not having anything at all.
