I've replaced my towels and now have a pile of old, seen better days, not too soft towels. Any idea what I could do with them, i'd hate to throw them away.

    thanks

Dogs/cats homes have a great need for them.

RSPCA should be able to help.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I keep my old towels for drying woolens flat, big mopping-up jobs and things like that. If I had the time, energy and inclination I could cut them up and make them into small hand-towels for the kitchen or face-flannels.

If you have too many to re-use as cleaning cloths and such you could always consider donating them to any animal re-homing charities near you, they are always on the look-out for things like that for pet-bedding because they can be boiled and then re-used.

If you have a hard bathroom floor and a messy family they make great bathmats, you don't care what stains they are picking up on the floor. Also useful for drying wet dogs and protecting matresses from kids who don't usually have bedtime accidents but just might spill a drink or re-open a scab or something.
I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)

One for the boot of the car?

Good if you get wet, need to kneel on something to change a wheel (or someone does) or a myriad of other weird things that can happen when out (e.g. someone spilling their drink on a car seat and not having enough seats to move them to another, lol).

If you have a sewing machine with a zig zag stitch cut the good bits into squares about 20cm by 20cm or rectangles and zigzag around the edges.

Add a bit of tape or ribbon to hang them up and they make brilliant small hand towels for the kitchen or bathroom.

Also good for mopping up spills and wash and dry quickly.

I love old towels. As well as using them for the animals I seem to use loads on floors when washing them last minute before people arrive or when mopping several times a day in winter when dogs come in and out. We have turtle mats, which are great, but a towel or two over the top absorbs some dirt/water before the mat, so making them stretch longer before looking dreadful. Drying woolens, cleaning the worst muck off stuff before going in with microfibre or other clothes. Lining pet beds (again to extend the time between washes) and pet carriers, and car seats.....

when they get worm and thin they make better cleaning cloths IMO. Great for starting off yucky windows with manky woodwork, and floors and....

A friend recently gave me two bin bags full and she said I was more excited with old towels than I was at Christmas.
