Your local vets might be a willing recipient... as someone who kept one after our cats op, I would say they get through them! We've got a big bag full for the vets since getting new ones so thanks for the reminder. If you aim for the moon if you miss at least you will land among the stars!0

Hi kittej,
This thread has lots of ideas that should help:
uses for old towels
I'll merge your thread with that one later to keep the suggestions together.

roll some into a thick tube, sew them into a tube of a larger towel for a door draught excluder
sew two or three together for a spare bathmat. cut and sew the best bits into squares for facecloths/window cloths etc.
keep small bits in kitchen for wiping wet hands when cooking - cheaper than paper towels
if large and smoothish lay between divan base and mattress for an extra layer of warmth (and great invisible storage!)0 -
If I can no longer use them as they have become too threadbare I usually cut them into squares slightly larger than face flannels and hem around them and use them for floor/bath/cleaning cloths.Anywhere that I need to use them so if they get too grotty I can just bin them.I have a couple in my car boot in case my hands get mucky when putting air into the tyres.I call them my grubby cloths.I have an old drawsting bag that I keep them in behind the cupboard under the stairs door on a hook so I can find them easily If they all get very grubby a good boil wash in the machine will bring them up fairly clean.I hate to bin anything if I can get a bit more use out of them .Saying that I sorted out my linen cupboard the other week and found 8 bath towels that I donated to my youngest DD as her boys go through towels like litghtening.I still have more than enough left for me and I shall rescue her almost worn out ones for my string bag and cut and hem them one night this week.0

thanks for all of your replies.
I can always rely on the OS board to come up with good ideas :j
I am now maybe thinking about making place mats as I was recently given a round table and chairs and don't have any place mats.Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -
I have a friend who cuts the good parts from hand towels, overlocks the raw edge then creates a fancy hanging loop with wool(?) and a crochet hook. Ideal size for hand wiping in the kitchen as you can hang it where you want it.:wave:0

Same here, all my old towels end up as "doggy" towelsThere is no issue so small that it can't be blown out of proportion0 -
I keep a few back for cleaning rags, and any excess go to animal rescue. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0
