Talking of Ford Prefect ..............you could make car washing mitts with them! just fold them across the width a few times and flip them over - sew up three sides and voila!
  • Hi! Just wondering if anyone has any ideas what I can do with a load of towels (hand and bath ones). I've been decluttering and suddenly realised just how many towels I have! Obviously I could give them away to be recycled but I'm wondering if there is anything I could maybe make or use them for instead...?

    Thanks for reading :)

If you have an animal shelter near you they usuallly need towels and sheets etc for bedding.
Not heavily in debt, but still trying to sort things out.

  • Agree about the animal shelters needing them but also keep them for cleaning cloths (cut up) and for protecting floor etc when painting.
  • You could make them into a bathroom mat - I've done this successfully - put liquid latex on the bottom if your floor is slippery. I've seen a braided bathroom rug made from strips of old towels as well.
Keep a few though - useful for mopping up leaks.

I am 62, and have more towels than I need at this moment in time. But, I am going to hang onto them, because I am hoping for another 20+ years of life, and I will never have to buy another towel again. Put them away in the back of a cupboard and forget about them. You will need them one day.
