Wish I was a pensioner(awful wishing your time away)but I have 12 years to go and if they keep putting the age of retirement back(and they will)heaven help us...
Then again, not much to look forward to so being a pensioner will be no bed of roses. Beginning to think I am not bothered about having a long life if it is going to be miserable. Its not depression but I don't think I am particularly bothered if I am taken sooner rather than later. Never thought I would say that but..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. They do, the socialist party of England and Wales formed an alliance called the trade unionist and socialist coalition for the 2010 general election and many candidates from this coalition are standing for local elections around the country this year.

Thanks,
Whether they are successful I think I know who I'll be voting for...and I don't usually say who I will support but none of the three main parties appeal to me, then again with my luck no one will stand in my area...and I'll have the same parties standing..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. I know exactly how you feel. I have become so disillusioned with politics. Looking at the general election ballot we had the choice of Labour, Lib Dems, Conservatives, UKIP and BNP. The Socialist Party were standing for the mayoral elections here, but Labour won (no surprises there, this area has always been a labour area). I am looking to join the socialist party to get more involved with campaigning. If stuff happens on my own door step I don't like it's up to myself and like minded people to step up and speak out as the councillors and MP's round here do little to rock the boat because they know their seats are safe. Reading these last posts makes me realise that the saying, "All power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely," is right.
If you try to take a balanced view, all parties, once in power seem to forget what they are there for. I would like to know that union leaders are striking for the poor and oppressed, but I fear that they are striking to preserve their own positions. Arthur Scargill was hailed as a hero in the eighties, but all sorts of nasty facts have emerged since then.
Some unions have openly stated that their objective in striking is to cause civil unrest and bring the government down. And replace it with what?
No-one wants to suffer because of cuts but everyone agrees that because there is no money in the kitty economies have to be made. But everyone thinks that these economies shouldn't affect them.
I don't know what the answer is, perhaps there isn't one.
There's a lot to be said for a benign dictatorship. Only I don't think such a thing exists.

I don't think anyone should bow out for having an opinion.
I agree that most political parties feel the same.
I'm not sure of the answer, except whatever your view is get involved and don't leave it to "them" because I can find no evidence that "they" care.

Join in the march on 20th October against the cuts. The link is for the London one but think there are also ones in Belfast and Glasgow. We have a choice on how we respond to what is being done to us, we can accept it or we can take to the streets and protest. I will be fighting these cuts, and letting this government of millionaires that we do not accept their attack on the poor and vulnerable.0 -
Monnagran don't. We at least in here can talk among ourselves without being confrontational. We've all got our own knowledge and wisdom and experiences in life and they are all different. Would be boring as hell if we were all wee clones0

I have decided to just worry about getting through a month at a time, there is no use fretting, we all know that we will be hit hard and the best thing that we can do is to try and get each other through these difficult times, and if we can with a little humour if possible, which will help lift our spirits a bit.
