I don't answer .... if it's anybody important then they'll have a business card they put through the door asking you to call them (e.g. if it's Fraser & Fraser to advise you you're the sole beneficiary of a £10million will). Salespeople randomly knocking don't leave cards.

Glad I didn't knock on your door then to tell you that you'd left the door on your van wide open as I did one night this week or that you'd left your lights on as I've done previously.

As for the original question, if it's day time then I will answer it ut if night then I will look before opening the door.

I rarely answer the door either - certainly never in the evenings cos it won't be a delivery. I answered it last week just after I'd got in from work, about to change and had to quickly get a gown on - thinking it might be a neighbour had seen me come in and had a delivery for me or wanted a chat about something or other..... nope turned out to be someone from british gas offering surveys for loft insulation. **&&&%%$$$!!!!

I don't answer the door because a)I can't get down the stairs quick enough/without injuring myself due to disability and b)It screws with my mental health if someone knocks at the door if I'm not expecting anyone.

    Hence, DH deals with it.:o

Wow - I wouldn't dream of not answering the door, whatever time of the day or night.

It could be an emergency, someone needing help, a meter reader, a delivery, a friend just passing or anything really. To me it's as strange as someone not answering the phone.

or, worse still, Jehovah's Witnesses I stay put.

I'm that Jehovah Witness that was knocking.
I knew you were in, you wont to to heaven leaving me standing there in the rain.

    a] I don't have a van
b] I am OCD about security and wouldn't have left it like that.
