  • Morning all. :)

    Having to skip from 131.:(

    To keep mum happy I've replaced the batteries in two of the smoke alarms in the house. The one upstairs keeps emitting a single bleep every 20 to 30 seconds. Is this normal or could the new battery be duff?

    TIA.

    Battery sounds like it is duff
    Why don't you ring local fire brigade number will be on internet and maybe qualify for a FREE home fire safety visit and they fit a new one for free x

    Alternatively try transposing the two new batteries, if the other one then starts beeping prob battery.... Failing that get hold of a 'pen meter' and check voltage, got one here if you wanna pop down to borrow ;)

    Battery or smoke alarm?:rotfl::rotfl:

    Local fire station is only a few miles away but the firemen are only as and when required and is staffed by local farmers/farm services mechanics. You know when they've been called out if you pass them on the road and they are doing 70mph on country twisty roads.:eek:

    Afternoon mummy, yeah, I'm thinking the same but mum's not having it as it's new out of the pack. It is only T's own brand though and they have been lying around for a while...

    Am also thinking it's the battery. I replaced the batteries in a remote control at week-end with T's batteries from when they were glitching...had same problem, they didn't work..:(
    Born to glitch :D

    A free smoke alarm, newer ones have batteries in that cannot be changed and last about 10 years. My husband is a retained firefighter and also wholetime in Brighton and they go out most days visiting homes and fitting them xx
