I'm looking at getting one of these dual sim handsets from a Chinese supplier. The specs look very good for the price (around £125 delivered) and as Lenovo is a "brand", I'm hoping the quality will be of a good standard.

It's hard to find English language reviews from Google so just wondering if anyone has seen/used one of these?

The specs are :

Given Lenovo's site doesn't recognise the number (both UK and China) I'd suspect Lenovo are not aware they make this....
  • Exactly what I was going to post. If something looks too good to be true and all that....

I got one and only paid £117.41 including DHL delivey and card charges.
In my opinion it is the best dual sim phone you can buy for that kind of money. Buld quality, call quality is good (early days only got mine yesterday)

Thats a Russian Wiki site. Surely any "official" site will be a lenovo.ru or lenovo cn

It may be a good phone but it's looking like a cheap clone / copy of a brand than a real Lenovo device.

Despite having 'wiki' in the url, this site seems to have nothing to do with Wiki.
However, as 'abynk' said in fact, "you can find the official china site via..."
And there are links at the bottom of the page indeed:

    Official site Lenovo A789
    http://lenovo.com.cn

    (And Software for Lenovo A780
http://forum.china-iphone.ru - this is obviously not official)

Thats Lenovo's "official" China site but search for A789 on that and you get no search hits suggesting it's not a Lenovo product but someone using the brand name on their own device.

You are probably right, and they seem to have deliberately given a link to Chinese site so that no Russian would be able to check anything.

You can use google translate viewing it in any language.
I will never buy a phone from UK market after using two so called Chinese dual sim phones. The one I am currently using is ZTE u960. you can not see that either in European market. I have previously owned HTC magic and HTC desire.

Now a days mobile phones are like computers made out of SOC(system on chip). These chips actual wholesale cost is about 5-6$. The rest is all in presentation like nice screen , cover quality microphone speakers etc.

The only problem buying them from china is if you are not familiar with mods like rooting and removing Chinese crap from the phone. But if you communicate before buying from good sellers they will always make the phone for English users.

There is no anything wrong with some genuine Chinese phones that are not fakes imitating or mimicking well known brands. Nice screen is an essential part of a modern phone. Chinese imitations of iPhone with a cheap resistive(!) screen are not unknown.
