Than that seller deserves negative feedback and being forced to send each item separately to different addresses when possible.
    1. If you did that to me you'd be reported to eBay for malicious feedback, because that's what you are doing, if you leave a neg for something that you didn't get that wasn't advertised that is malicious feedback
    2. If the seller had sold the item to two different buyer, which he/she was expecting to anyway, they probably would have had two different addresses, so not really a hardship

Really, you cannot see that costs of business are included in the sale price of an item- but NOT specifically stated as post and packing?
Taking to the PO is a cost that should be taken as a posting cost,if not then why not,it makes no difference to the final price?

So you expect to see people like me say in their auctions
    No,thats just being pedantic.

    Item cost me £5
my petrol to collect from wholesaler 10p per item on average
costs of my use of house as an office 10p per item on average
costs of walking to PO 1p per item on average
costs of bribing my son to go instead 5p per item on average
my tax and NI, 45p per item on average
my profit approx £5 per item
so my auctions starts on this item at £10.72.

plus stamp cost and packing of £2.40 (charged as an extra)

that apepars to be what you are saying
    No its not.

I really do welcome a discussion , even a robust one, but I cannot explain with any clarity the difference between costs affecting the purchasing and selling of an item, and the fixed costs such as post and packing.
Is not physically taking the item to get posted a fixed cost?

also ebay specific, no one is asked to leave stars as to whether they feel my starting price on an item is fair, they are asked to leave stars on my p and p.
Yes,but no one, even e bay buyers should expect the packet to get to the PO on its own.Why cant you put the posting costs onto the p&p cost.,it seems the most logical place to put them?
As you appear to not understand i will repeat.
It doesn't matter where you load your costs, you just seem to think its wrong to state in a listing 'a charge you is included for taking the item to the PO' but you will put the cost onto the sale price.
The price the buyer payers in both instances is the same.

Then we must agree to disagree.

On Ebay it is however our buyers who decide how to rate us against each other post and packing wise when they leave stars, and if we do not maintain a 5* from most buyers our accounts will suffer. It doesn't matter what we all say anonymously her eon an internet forum, only our buyers matter

It is human nature to compare sellers, so the buyer receives 4 things in the post, on the first three the seller has charged actual stamp cost plus a few pence for packing costs- so he/she leaves a 5*. The 4th seller though has charged say 60p more, it might still be reasonable but the buyer sees a difference and decides that ranked against his other sellers this one is not quite as accurate with p and p and leaves a 4*

4* is not a poor rating, it still shows as an above standard seller, but if a seller gets too many they will ultimately face restrictions from ebay as ebay also compare sellers against each other and if most maintain an average of 4.8 stars or above and one buyer has 4.2 that lower starred one looks bad.

Personally I care more about my buyers viewpoint than I do about random strangers on the forums.

I don't expect it and if I don't ask prior to bidding I would not be put out paying it.

The OP seller says in her message she offers combined postae for 3+ items and the OP bought only 2 so I think it's wrong to expect the discount automatically to be given.
