Couldn't agree more, some police have already decided whether you're guilty before you open your mouth. Having a friend or relative there shouldn't be an issue if this isn't worthy of you going down to the station. But their presence should curb the officer from making what you say fit his story.

Saying he wants to talk with you for more than an hour just makes me think he's going to try and wear you down. After all, how long can you talk about something that didn't happen??

What you need to remember is that whatever the police officer may think, the fact is he doesn't know if you are innocent or guilty. Or if there is an ongoing long term issue. So they have to allow enough of a time slot in case you want to go on for hours, then read through the statement, make any corrections, etc... So it wouldn't be prudent of them to only allow an hour, when it could take longer, as they don't want to have to rush things.

    Very naive to think this.

The police are just as corrupt as the next person.....Just because you go into a certain job,it doesn't automatically give you a holier than tho attitude.

OP, Preempting the situation I would find out what your rights are if you are arrested, and what rights you have at the station i.e will a lawyer come out to the police station at any hour if needed etc

If you are asked to sign anything by them, them make sure you read it fully and DO NOT sign it if it is wrong, or at the very least make sure you put in the amendments and sign each one.

Otherwise be polite and as helpful as you can be in that situation.

    Another police hater obviously!!!!

Most police haters do so because they have been on the wrong side of the law themselves (or their close family or friends have). If you don't break the law, then you will never get on the wrong side of the police.

There are corrupt people in all walks of life, but there are probably far less in the police force than most other trades. So although you could come across one, the chances are very unlikely. And in the OP's case, very unlikely indeed. What are you expecting the police officer to do, beat a confession out of the OP??

They can't simply arrest you because they want to interview you. If they had sufficient evidence to arrest OP, they would do so. They haven't, so clearly, they do not. What OP needs to be sure of is that she does not give them anything that could at all be construed as evidence.

If they caution you, stop the interview and say nothing further without legal advice. At this point, they are treating you as a suspect, but lack the evidence to arrest you. You need do nothing to assist them in building a case against you (this is their objective, not helping you absolve yourself). If you feel you must go on, make an appointment at the police station and tell them to arrange the duty solicitor. Best to say nothing, though.

If they want a chat and to discuss the situation, then fine. Be honest, but limit the discussion to this.

They can arrest you in order to carry out a full and proper investigation.

In this case from what the OP has said, any statement would actually go in their favour. So it would be rather stupid to refuse.

Or as I did you could get qualified legal advice not posts from someone on an online forum.

The bully most probably knows the law better then most people and is being vindictive I would just say you picked your partners son up a couple of times, the bully was pointed out to you and thats it, if the Police are funny about it then tell them to do their job as the false allegations of the bully have cost you time, money and lots of stress and you want to be updated on the matter on a regular basis.

Take the officers details down from his warrant card and tell them that you will be contacting your local MP about this the school and if you get are seemingly getting no help then you will involve the press.

Yep, they can, I had a similar problem when a friend of mines ex girlfriend punched me in the mouth, because she thought I was spending more time with my girlfriend than I was with my mate (my girlfriends brother) then threw a second punch which missed me and caught the boot of my car, I thought no more of the incident yet 2 days later, the police came for me and even though they didn't believe the girls story (she was known top police for violent behaviour) they still arrested me whilst they followed the things up, she had a broken finger from punching my car and was trying to pass off the hickies on her neck and chest as bruises, a real waste of 5 hours of my life especially as I had witnesses to vouch for me.

No I'm not a cop. But I know a few, and you would stuggle to find people more honest.

Old school coppers simply can't exist for long in the job any more, because the whole service is under constant scrutiny.

If I seem venomous, it's because most police haters do so because the police try and stop them from doing what they want to do, which is illegal. It's like people who get stopped for speeding, and come out with the line "shouldn't you be catching proper criminals". Well if that person had killed a child when they were speeding, then they would be a criminal. So by stopping them from speeding, they could be saving a childs life.

There is probably no reason at all to get legal advice at this stage.

That's not very helpful to this thread, nor is the rest of your "advice" to be honest.
