Me!Since a friend mentioned X Factor being a countdown to Christmas I've been imagining how gorgeous my new house will look at Christmas-little tree in the front garden lol, living room perfect size and shape to show off my tree (even more so when I decorate) and it got me feeling all cosey and excited enough to start making plans

Oh yes, have for a while now! I've noticed in some restaurants they've got the signs 'book now for Christmas' so the build up is slowly starting.
I'm in a Christmas Savings club at work which gets paid out in November so I always have a good budget, we love Christmas and always like to indulge. However, this year will be a little different as we are on holiday to Florida in February for a month (the month I'm made redundant!) so we've decided we'll calm down a bit on presents and save the money for a splurge on holiday.
I made a deal a long time back with other family and friends about not buying for each other and nowadays I only buy for my husband, daughter, grandson and son-in-law which makes for a fairly relaxed and exciting time!Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it!!:eek:0 -
I buy thru-out the year, starting earlish-on. This year I bought some things in the Boots 70% off sale and paid for it using my points so I came away with several bags worth for nothing. :j
For main presents though or closer or more difficult to buy for family members, I find I can't do this until the store's Christmas stock comes out. I have a grandparent with a mid Sept birthday, mine is late Sept and hubby's early Oct and I find that I struggle to find much in the shops for Nan, the situation is changing by the time it's my birthday and I've frequently bought from the gift range available.
I aim to be finished by 1st Dec, so I can concentrate on writing xmas cards, which I'm not as organised with- I've been known to be driving all round the town xmas eve posting cards thru riends letter boxes, attending school xmas plays- def easier since eldest went to Secondary school and I am down to watching just one, going to parties, carol concerts and so on.0 -
I tend to go out and buy lots of the presents during the October half term. Especially things for the kids as I worry that things will sell out.
Before having kids I never use to do anything for Xmas till December. What with the late night shopping and weekends it could all be done. Standing in the queues chatting to people about their plans added to the enjoyment of it all for me.
Personally I would be bored of it by December if I thought to much about it from now. Im all  at the person who has bought and wrapped their presents already. How does that work with returning goods if they have any faults or dont fit?The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0 -
Well ive got a list of things i want for the house a mile long but i realize they will have to wait as i need to start saving for Christmas.
Four of kids will have gift vouchers as usual (they usually like to spend them in the sales) but this January will be my youngest sons 17th birthday so he will be having driving lessons. I did ask him what he wanted and he didnt know so when i suggested driving lessons he was more than pleased with the suggestion. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I have bought a few kids toys in the sale, but thank you for bringing this up as you have reminded me that I need to order some tickets for my mum (the event is in November but I always buy them for her xmas pressie). Off to buy them now.....0

Get the whole family together for one day having spent the other 364 days avoiding such a situation knowing full well it will end in screaming kids, screaming parents, a sobbing drunk in the corner and just ,...... Arrrrgghghhh yuk yuk yuk .. Go away its AUGUST :rotfl:Ant. :cool:0 -
