anyone thinking about christmas yet?

  • Thought about it but that's about it. Trying to cut down this year so contacted my siblings a couple weeks ago and said not to buy me and I wouldn't be buying them, only the kids and my mum and dad. It'll give me a little bit more to spend on nieces and nephews and my parents. Plus it'll save me stress. I find every year it gets harder and harder to know what to buy people :p

Me and OH have agreed no presents, we'll just go away for a night or two instead :D

I love, love, love christmas and although I don't think about it every day, it's in the back of my mind. This time of year and early september there are some brilliant sales, especially for stocking fillers so I will pick up bits as and when. I also find if you are going to buy things on ebay, it's better to get it now rather than closer to december.

    Life is too short, honestly.

Only if you find it stressful, its one of the highlights of my year and thinking about it gives me pleasure.

I have been saving jars throughout the year ready to make chutneys again and also went blackberry picking yesterday and froze them ready for making cakes.

I have been collecting card, ribbon, wrapping paper etc over the year to make my cards.

It's going to be a handmade christmas, although I do actually need to get round to making the things which is the difficult bit!

I've wrote a list of who I need to buy for and ideas, have also picked up a couple of bargains for baby boy's santa stocking. Being on maternity leave means money is a fair bit tighter than previous years so I'm hoping a bit of forward planning will result in some meaningful - yet inexpensive - presents! :)

As for Xmas, I'm taking a hard line this year and everyone will be getting cut to the bone.

It's not a 'bah humbug' exercise, I'm just sick of being in debt and it's not coming down as quickly as we'd hoped so more draconian measures will be applied this Xmas.

Thought about it. Increasing my hours at work from September to pay for it! I'm not going to waste money on loads of toys for DS as he's either playing video games or outside on his bike or playing football and his toys don't get a look in. Much the same with DD, although she's suddenly found an interest in Monster High and has a couple of the dolls, so she might have something along those lines. And she also wants a mobile phone which might give mine a break as she uses it to text her friends.

The only problem as they get older I suppose is that the presents get more expensive, but they look like alot less when they're put under the tree. I'm sure I'll get carried away with the amount of tat I buy once again though. One year I bought two £1 pots of fart putty for their stockings and it was that year's most played with item!

And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end
