If you use a "curly" wire on your charger make sure the "curls" are not stretched out too far, as the electricity flowing through can build up momentum in it's north/south polarity neutrons. Fluctuations in a tightly coiled wire expand and exit into the apperatus much more forcefully

Are you using the right kind of cable grease so the electrons can flow properly? Perhaps at work they use a silicone based cable grease which is costlier but doesn't get sticky like domestic cable grease?

I wonder if this might be caused by changes in the supply voltage overnight, rather than the location?

Nah it was caused by the bottle of Pinot Grigio the night before........

If your bedside socket is at the end of a long and old wire it is possible that some power is lost between it and the mains. It would be interesting to try charging plugged in to a socket that's near where the mains comes into your house, or your kettle socket which should have a "bigger" wire to it from the mains, and compare the charging times.

There's no such thing as a kettle socket. Kettles plug into any standard 13A socket.

Maybe it's because the plug in work is on the ground floor, obviously the electric that travels to my bedroom has to climb up the wires to get the the socket so would lose some of its power whereas the electric in work won't be as tired

also, the 'leccy will be more tired at night after a busy day, so therefore less powerful.
Is it better at the weekends?

Electricity generated from wind turbines is circular polarised and to be used for digital purposes needs to be analogically transposed to alternating current, your digital equipment (being chinese) needs to circumnavigate this conversion and many industrial/office premises have this built into their supply, you home supply may not.

I've just returned from Crete and can definately confirm that my tablet, phone & rechargeable batteries took much longer to recharge over there. I believe the Greeks use 220v? Maybe there is something in the 'dirty supply' theory?

This reminds me of a colleagues wife years go ...she used to plug un-connected plugs in empty sockets all around the house because she was convinced electrickery would leak out onto the floor!

    A true story ...
