thanks Tony - I'd seen the priority service via mail and I think that will suffice if push comes to shove. I will phone the registry office where I was born first thing and see if it can be done by the time I get there and fingers crossed we'll be done by 2pm. If not, priority service via snail mail it is. thanks again - much appreciated.0

I ordered replacement certs by phone for my sons, it took 6 days to come through the post. They did not give an option to collect from the office, which I could easily have done (I live in walking distance!!)

My son needed to get his and was told that they no longer offer a fast track (same day) service. He got his within 24 hours.0

thanks Mara - I will phone first thing and see if it's possible to get it the same day if I make the journey. If not, it'll have to be Tuesday of next week from the central service.0

My oh need one for right to work as he'd lost his, he went to the register office his birth was registered in and had a copy same day.
Shrewsbury office charged £30 as he needed it same day, don't know if that's standard. It was cheaper the longer he could wait for it to be delivered to our home via royal mail.0 -
For a same day certificate, you will have to go to the office that covers the registration district where your birth was registered ....
May be worth double-checking - I know when we registered our daughter recently we were told that the records are held elsewhere and if we needed a copy certificate we'd have to go to a totally different register office.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
