Is it possible to get an idea of the sex of a baby from a 13 week scan?

Just having a discussion with my mother and she thinks she can see that a relative is having a baby boy from her 13 week scan. They haven't had the sex revealed to them but Mum reckons she could tell from the picture. Has anyone else been able to spot the obvious?
And we would never say anything to the parents, it's just a discussion between us.

Wouldn't take my word for it but I belive the 'fetus' is not developed enough by that stage for it to actally have anything :rotfl:People don't know what they want until you show them.0

They can usually narrow it down to one of two.0

There is the 'nub' theory if you google it
Boys have a sticking up nub, girls have a straight nub
I think it's meant to be accurate 50% of the timex x

I know someone who had a scan privately in London at 13 weeks and they asked her if she wanted to know the sex there and then. I think it is possible, if the sonographer is very experienced and the position of the baby and the equipment being used.Raven. :grinheart:grinheart:grinheart0

I did say that to her but as she was a nurse and a health visitor I tend to take her word on these matters, but I did think it wasn't possible, hence me asking.
In her defense she was a nurse pre-scan days. She says she could tell I was having a boy too, at my 12-13 week scan.0 -
Exactly what PP said, I was told at twelve weeks but only because the sonographer had twenty years experience, was on a hugely expensive state of the art machine and was a friend so knew I wouldn't come at her if she turned out to be wrong. I doubt any one not experienced would be be able to tell, afer working at a maternity unit and seeing a thousand odd scans I certainly wouldn't be able to tell.0

The nub theory worked for me! There is also a skull theory but I havent looked into it.My opinion is neither copyrighted nor trademarked, and it's price competitive. If you like, I'll trade for one of yours.0 -
