Bright red, possibly whiteish bit to body? Walk like a tarantula rather than scuttle?

Woodlice eating spider. Means you've probably got a leak behind the bath panel and woodlice eating the rotten floorboards.

Solution: put spiders outside, take bath panel out, sort out leak, treat for damp and then woodlice have nothing to eat, so the spider has no reason to be there.

And cat has to find something else to torment.

No, they are red and appear at certain times of the year, not just my flat. Round the area they appear in kitchens etc. They are very weird looking spiders. Usually only see one or two a year. Haven't seen any this year at all.

I have a cement floor so no woodlice. Oh and I am council so they want to do won't be me.

Spiders can crawl back out of vacuum cleaners, that doesn't necessarily kill them.

If you've got a steady hand the wings are a good way to catch and evict them. Just grab a wing between thumb and forefinger when the critter is at rest, and throw the insect out the window. It will go a bit mad while you've got hold of it, but it doesn't seem to do them any harm.

No point in grabbing a leg, they just come off.

Or stick between the teeth of the cat that's got it.

LOL, I think I'd just leave the cat to it once it had got that far. A cat pushing legs into its mouth with a paw is one of those never-to-be forgotten sights!

They eat all kinds of bugs, not just woodlice. Can you try and post a pic please? They have me intrigued!!

I once walked through the back door that had a large spider web woven across the door and ended up with what felt like hundreds of little spiders crawling all over me, luckily for my my neighbours I managed to get in the house before I ripped all my clothes off and jumped in the shower. I felt them all day :rotfl:
