Its worth a try I say.
Guess who will be conker collecting come autumn
HBS - Just googled LARP, I used to work with a guy who did this, he always had a story to tell abut his antics! He was a bit on the mad side too0 -
Bazster - tis true I am a great big wimp but not afraid to admit it !
Its not the getting bit by one that scares the bejesus out of me, its just the look / speed / general creepy crawlieness of them.0 -
It appears that not everyone thinks there are to many spiders around this year, Chester zoo are breeding them to release back into the wild.

I've just noticed that was last year so maybe that's why they're out there now.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Good grief, what a bunch of wimps. Spiders are beautiful and harmless. You've got more chance of being bitten by your next-door neighbour than by a spider (in the UK - you do need to know what you are dealing with if you are in, say, Australia).
I've never been bitten by a neighbour, but I have been bitten by a spider. It stung for ages.0 -
I am a bit spider-phobic too * shudder * although I never kill them,I use the old ' glass and card method ' and then chuck them outside.I also have one of these, which is good for the big, hairy spiders that I don't want to get too close to

I think the conkers really do work.I was sceptical at first, but it certainly seems to keep spiders away.I have quite a few conker trees near where I live,so as soon as they start dropping off the trees,I am out there collecting them and spreading them round every room in the house lol.0 -
Just think about all the flies/mozzies/wasps that they eat! I'd far rather have spiders than them!
We've got a big one wandering round our house at the moment, I keep seeing him in different rooms- think he's exploring, haha...
If you don't like them though, do the old jam jar and a bit of card trick rather than kill them perhaps?0 -
I never kill them either - that's what OH or my dad is for. The thought of getting close enough to one to kill it makes me feel sick.
As for them being harmless... that's just what they want you to think.0 -
The conker trick doesn't work with our spiders, unfortunately, which is a shame as we have a huge old horse chestnut tree that drops hundreds of conkers.0
