I would be very wary about ordering from Ideal World as their share prices have plummeted over the past few months and are still falling, dosent bode well.If you are having problems with them say you will report them to A.S.A. that usually gets them rattled enough to sort things out.My advice to you is do not order in the first place, you will save your sanity and probably your money as most of what they flog can be bought cheaper elsewhere.

I sympathise with everyone who is having difficulties with the random services of ideal world. I would advise everyone to avoid ordering from Create and Craft or Ideal World. I placed an order for one of their 4 day deals on the 2nd day of the deal, when there was 75% stock left (I actually spoke to a customer advisor as their automated system went wrong). 15 working days later, I had not recieved the order, so I phoned them. I was told the order had been dispatched the day after I ordered it. I said it hadn't arrived. The customer advisor then tapped a few buttons on her computer and said the item would be dispatched that day and arrive within 5 working days?????? As she had already made one mistake, I asked her to double check. Then she said that I had been refunded for the item 2 days after I placed the order - and she COULD NOT TELL ME WHY! I asked if the item was in still in stock, and it was, so I asked if I could place another order, which she did there and then. The item had arrived, but on the delivery note, I have been charged the full price for the item (in the 4 day deal, it was £20 , and they charged me £40). What is even more annoying is that they haven't refunded me for the previous order!!! So I have now been charged £60.00 for a £20.00 item. I'm furious, and all I seem to get through to the customer services in India who are totally unhelpful! But I will try on the number provided by oldandhappy (Thanks) and see if I get anywhere. Never again!!!!!
  • I tried to place an order today - 1st time - I think - although I have bought from one of the shopping channels before but can't remember which one it was!

I get through but it was an automated line that kept me hanging on and then told me to ring back later as it had a problem!! So I haung up and called back - the automated system detected that I had placed an order but hadn't been able to complete it and did I want to complete the order? Well I pressed '1' for yes and then it asked me if I wanted their special offer so I said '2' for no and then it said 'Thank you very much - Good bye' so I don't know whether or not I have ordered something and if I have how and when do I pay?

Thanks in anticipation of any advice!
  • Having read the posts here, I had to put this warning on to anyone thinking of buying the Piant Roller system where you fill the roller with paint. They say and show that it is the mess-free way to quickly paint walls and ceilings so needing to decorate my bedroom, I thought this was a great idea - no need to move or cover furniture. NOT SO!!! I filled the roller with emulsion paint and luckily, being sceptical, I did it over the kitchen sink. Good job I did because it just poured out of the other end of the roller and through the sponge!! What a joke!!! I don't know what sort of paint they used in the demonstration but I can only say that if I had followed their instructions and filled the roller in the room I was hoping to decorate, I would have had paint over everything except the walls. Needless to say, I washed it out and sent it straight back.

I also was disappointed with IW, had no problem placing an order but the after sales was dire. I had a less than18 month old Politi that stopped working. I thought it came with a two year warranty. However i could not find the paperwork so contacted them to clarify this and see what they were going to do about it. Silly me, absolutely nothing, they told me i had to deal with the manufacturer, who said return the machine and £80 and we will fix it.

Otherhalf being an Electrician tested it then had a look and prod and found one of the switches was faulty. Needless to say he fixed it at no cost and i have never shopped with IW again.
  • this company needs to have operators who speak english it is very difficult to understand those at the call centre.

I had a halogen oven from them after 2.5 months it packed up I had to remain in from 7am to 7pm for collection no one turned up, trying to arrange once more for collection was a nightmare I think they think that everyone sits around all day I have lost loads of money due to this it may have been easier for me to throw the item away and find an alternative they are not very helpful they say priority collection but still cannot arrange it for 4 days then they offer me 24 or 25th December ????? WHERE DO THEY FIND THESE PEOPLE, LAST TIME i PURCHASE FROM THEM.

I tried to place an online order a couple of weeks ago. the confirmation aemail arrived stating that there were no items on the order and the total due was 0.00. They still managed to charge my credit card. So far they've lost my refund twice. I've prepared a LBA which goes to them on Monday. NEVER again.

I also had nothing but trouble with that blinkin' Paint Roller. It was useless. In my case, though the paint simply wouldn't come through the sponge at all (without leaning your whole weight on it) and the handle wasn't robust enough to do that. I tried cleaning it - supposed to be *really easy*. Pah! In the end I just threw the whole thing away.

That was the second item I'd bought from Ideal World - the first being a pair of their "FlyFlot" boots. Undoubtedly the most uncomfortable things I've ever worn. They went back - and I got a refund in reasonable time.

I agree with one of the other posters - stick to QVC!
  • Check the postage costs when you order. I ordered a steam cleaner last night - postage on screen was £5.95 (dear enough) but the automated service quoted it as £7.95. I ordered anyway and then phoned back to complain about the error in postage. Operator was foreign and difficult to understand but eventually put me through to customer services. Turns out the extra £2 was for Xmas delivery - but they didn't state that! Offered me a £3 voucher against my next purchase. I wouldn't let them away with anything!
