I remember that when I was paid by echeque I had to choose to accept it... but that may have been the type of account. My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Let the buyer cancel the e-cheque. I think its more easy for them to do it than you.0

Once it clears you can always refund it then if need be.0 -
are e cheques dodgy then?
i was under the impression that if i wrote a cheque (paper) and did not have the funds ,it was fraud
does this not apply to these e-cheques living on the "edge"0 -
e-cheques just take a long time to clear (10+ days).
I've never had an e-cheque bounce so to speak.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

You're cutting it very fine. Personally I would forget about the buyer that's trying to pay by E-cheque as they're obviously incredibly stupid and bang another listing on Fleabay right away, immediate payment by Paypal required and send it guaranteed next day Royal Mail special delivery or collect and cash on collection. If you offer anything else at this late stage you'll won't make a penny.
Once that's out of the way with, then sort out the idiot that doesn't understand the basic law of paying for something, waiting for it to clear and then postage time lengths. If they start carrying on then just be clear that you didn't receive a reply to your last email and couldn't afford to wait around any longer due to the expiry date of the item.

Occasionally, Paypal payments go through as e-cheques for no apparent reason. It's a real pest if it happens with a time-sensitive item. If the buyer were to cancel it and try again, it might go through as an instant payment on the second attempt. If not, the only suitable alternative I can think of would be if they could get to a branch of your bank and pay the money straight into your bank account.0

You can refund an e-cheque before it clears - I've done this with someone who bought from me, wanted it quickly and didn't realise that they'd paid by e-cheque; they offered Bank transfer, so I just clicked on 'Refund' on the PayPal details page and it bounced the e-cheque back.
I only exist in my own mind - if you can see, hear or read me, you are a product of my imagination.0
