Hello Diary and Dear Friends, :hello:
Missrlr; think you're right - by the end of the month I will indeed be rather bored with broad beans and new potatoes.
Have already run out of sardines for Daft Dogs' paella - right now engaged in an 'argument' with CD; she is refusing the kibble and gloop again (but she's not getting her chicken until it's been eaten. Typing with one eye on her bowl to try and ensure FD doesn't polish off the kibble..).
satchmo1 wrote:Hmm, still think RTL should be contributing cash in hand
Satchmo, am beginning to agree.
R is AWOL at the moment; he has been so much better recently that I had no reason to object to him going to visit other mates - but he didn't return last night when he'd said he would.
<sigh>
This morning he had a Doc appointment to which I was supposed to accompany him, although doubt it would have achieved much as R's blood tests won't be back for another week.
However, I've heard in a roundabout way that R has made a commitment which I cannot believe is a good idea. If he thinks he can use all his dosh on something so objectionable to me, then we're in for a difficult conversation because I am no longer willing to provide an entirely free ride.
This might prompt R to remove himself entirely - which is his right of course - but I'd feel happier if we were a couple of weeks further on. Can see another crash on the horizon if R attempts to live without support too soon.
Wonder whether he went to his Doc appointment?
Anyway, nothing to be done about that now.
Let's see if I can synchronise van's ITV test and CD's vet visit for one trip to town, and maybe write a very short shopping list to get us through to the end of the month.
..Just heard from El Divo Number Three; his car's brakes have failed!
Unfortunately the car is essential for him to get home from work after the buses stop running. It's been misbehaving for a while; a mate of DS3's has been trying to sort it out on the cheap.
Told DS it was a false economy - now he can't afford the garage fees but the car is no longer safe to drive to his mechanic.
Fair Play to DS3 for calling to say "you were right, Mum" - left me no choice but to willingly agree to cover the bill (he's calling it a loan). That will probably wipe out the rest of the AI Fund, because I'd rather the garage also checks the other problems which the car has had recently, while they've got it. There is a big question mark over the integrity of it's head gasket - personally I don't trust Mate's bodge. ..Much cheaper to sort that out properly before the engine blows up!
So it goes - wonder what other expenses the universe is about to throw at me in order to reinforce my latest Life-Lesson? :rotfl:
(Gotta laugh..).

Oh dear sorry R is being a little difficult. It would be a shame if he did something in haste to set him back.
I know what you mean about bills and learning lessons .... Sometimes it would be nice to say "yep. Get it, honest!"
Hope El Divo 3 car troubles do not progress.

Dear Diary and MSE Friends, :hello:
We have a day of showers, sunshine and rainbows.I know what you mean about bills and learning lessons .... Sometimes it would be nice to say "yep. Get it, honest!"
Indeed. So yesterday I decided to try and break the run of bills with the cunning plan of paying everything that was due and upcoming.
..With amazing success; when I 'phoned about the largest account, the chap who is dealing with it assumed that I'd want to pay in instalments - which is great as it keeps most of the allocated funds earning interest for Nest Inc.Oh dear sorry R is being a little difficult. It would be a shame if he did something in haste to set him back.
It would. He's back, but not yet mentioned what he's done. I can wait, but meanwhile have prepared a shopping list for R (which am not planning on giving him funds to pay for). The AI a fund still makes me giggle a bit ......
Always happy to cheer up a friend!
Don't think there will be anything at all left in it after garage bills though - because of course the other one that is almost certain to materialise, is for the van after it's technical inspection. Yes, I said "let's not borrow trouble" but it hasn't failed for three years, so it's hard to believe there won't be something that needs replacing or sorting out (new rear shocks perhaps, or maybe too rusty after it's sojourn on the UK's salty roads last year?).
Therefore am budgeting for repair and re-test from AI Fund (might be able to borrow back from Big Bill Savings, when the AI moment finally arrives).

Still chuckling about AI fund, but sometimes the money shuffle dance can be quite ahem vigorous?

Good Morning Diary and Dear Friends, :hello:
Well, how fast things do change...
Remember that peculiar health problem I had? After months of slow improvement it's back with a vengeance. Very painful. Enough to resort to knock-out drops which took effect during Soap Hour.
Woke up to more discomfort a little while ago. Found the shopping and a farewell note from Roger timed at midnight (but he appears to have kept the door key - unsure what that signifies?).
:think:Glad the nest fund is present
Find keeping distinct funds is a good way of not over-spending with money that's already been allocated to large expenses. A variation on the Pots principle beloved of many MSEers?
Suppose borrowing from these funds is better than from a bank, but do need reminding to put the money back..
Waiting for dawn now, before going to look in the caravan (see if R has taken all his stuff or not?). :cool:0 -
Hum, what a shame about RTL may be a weekend sojourn?
I have similar pots going! Which reminds me I need to shuffle funds ....Start info Dec11

Hello Diary and Dear Friends, :hello:
Yesterday was a day of high winds and swirling black clouds, with squalls of freezing rain that fell as snow higher up. I had to bring the strawberries and trees in pots onto the patio to protect 'em (wind was knocking over the trees and shredding the strawberry plants).
Last night it got so cold that firing up the stove was essential; first time in weeks (glad I hadn't yet got around to taking my emergency supply of dry wood back down to the damp shed).
Tbh the day suited my mood, because RTL has indeed gone; all his possessions removed from the caravan. He even hoovered and cleaned it out..
What he didn't do was tell me in person that he was leaving - am I really that scary?!
Am reminded of Fudgie's comment about folk with MH problems taking advantage.. Worried that R's failure to discuss his plans suggests he's not as well as he obviously thinks he is..
Today blue skies have returned and the birds are singing. The swallows have arrived from Africa, blown in on the back of the storm. They swoop and dive, scooping insects out of the air; definitely a sign that summer is just around the corner.
Something else to look forward to, is the imminent arrival of El Divo Number Four - coming over for a big 21st birthday party next week.
Can't help wondering whether R's decision to leave was influenced by this, although he also knew that DS4 is planning to stay at PC's little cottage rather than the Nest.
 Later on I'd better go and see whether R has also removed the things he'd taken to the big cottage in expectation of moving in there when well enough; have turned down a couple of holiday lets because of that but suspect the gesture [and loss of income] has been wasted.
So it goes.
Oh dear; need some time in the garden to restore mental calm. Think I'll plant out the potted trees to avoid having to carry them any further than necessary; at over two metres tall in corresponding sized pots, it was very difficult to shift 'em yesterday with my sore arm.
Ha - last night decided a little traction would be a good idea to try and free the trapped nerves, so rigged up a sling and cord tied to the ceiling fan, and slept with arm stretched up.
It worked; today the pain has almost gone and I'm not afraid of digging holes for the trees.0 -
DFW, umm, beta blockers aren't handed out for any trivial health problems; I very much doubt that a Mediterranean diet alone would be able to do the same job. Sorry.
Bed time. Night-night folks. :smileyhea
ah right, well you'll have to excuse my ignorance in these areas as i've no dealings with anyone who's had them. She has a number of problems with her though and i'm certain many are caused from stress & bad diet. I suspect RTL is well enough to know that his departure is unwise, but unwell enough that he doesn't recognise how unwise it is? Sorry if that isn't reassuring, Robin. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0
