Apart from his opening salvo mentioned previously, Chappie said two - no, three things am not very happy about. Have checked one; asked a friend who's in the same position I am [but further along] - she agreed with what I had thought.
Will try and investigate the other two anomalies before speaking to the Gent again.
 Do hope he turns out to be on the level though.

More like he brought technical know-how, good company and the excuse to cook a decent dinner. :D

Keep falling asleep at the wrong time - for eg. just after said dinner - so once again it has become a late night. :o
  • Hope you managed to get some sleep and I'm glad you enjoyed your dinner guest's company.

I agree, proceed with caution re probate guy. Trust your instincts and continue to verify what he says. I hope it all works out for you Xx

Hello Diary and MSE Friends, :hello:

Dreamed last night I could hear Blind Dog singing to the Moon.. Remembered at the door after leaping out of bed to bring him inside, that it could not be so. :o It was a beautiful night; quiet and still with the landscape silhouetted in silver moon-light. Awesome. Freezing cold, but awesome. :)

Have woken up with sinusitis headache - wonder where that bug was picked up?
Hope I can clear m'head, as I have a IT lesson imminently, before Visitor leaves. He has sorted out the printer, :T and done something amazing with my lappy, :T it works again, :D but I have to learn to use a different operating system. :o
..Not very confident about that, but will try. :)

I hope it works out too, but but but.. Yes do need to be very cautious here; apart from anything else he wanted so much information about my life but rather brushed aside my concerns about winding up PC's estate.
I did feel we were talking rather at cross-purposes at times which was not reassuring - he already knows rather a lot about my affairs.
  • Hi Robin. I too am very concerned about this probate chap and also urge you to proceed with caution. I often dream of my old lad, it's kind of comforting and sad all at the same time isn't it?

We had DGD to stay on Friday and she is so funny and exhausting at the same time, I daren't take my eyes off her for a minute. When we took her home one of DS's dogs was in the lounge, and whilst our dog was a cross breed, this is a thoroughbred of one of the cross iyswim, and he has so many characteristics of our old lad. He was competing for my attention (along with DGD when I was cuddling the baby) and our old lad used to do that to me when DGD was a baby and it was a real bittersweet moment.

I'm sorry you're feeling blurgh at the moment and hope that you feel better soon, and at least you have got the techie stuff sorted.......it's times like these when the younger generation come into their own isn't it?

Hum just been back and reread all probate guy stuff. Some worrisome comments about his wanting to know about your life. It may be that probate has ways of reducing costs or taxes if things are transferred in your name or something?
If you don't trust him then say bye bye and get your copies of your documents back from him!

Brrrrr - today am really missing that little knob on the wall which produces an almost-instant climate-of-choice; ah the joys of central heating.. :p

It suddenly became rather crowded in the Nest earlier, when a crowd of post-party rugger fans decided that my telly was the best one on which to watch the match. What could I do but make tea and provide a comfy corner for the somnolent girlfriend?

So my IT lesson took place to sounds of sporting appreciation and mild grumbling at the lack of beer in the fridge, which did however, provide the wherewithal to cook bacon and egg butties at half time (at least they made 'em themselves, lol :rotfl:).

This unexpected visit allowed for a part-family conflab about Probate Chap.
Dot and Missrlr, my lads share our general disquiet. Discussion threw up the name of a Spanish friend who is in a good position to advise on the other two things Chappie said which I think are incorrect. Overall the feeling is that Probate Chappie is following his own agenda rather than my best interests.
    We shall see.

Chappie's attitude is somewhat perturbing, isn't it? Luckily [as it may turn out] my printer wasn't working so he couldn't take copies of the documents he was interested in. :p

Awww, yes that must have been very poignant - brought a tear to my eye..

As part of my IT lesson I transferred the 'photos on my camera onto lappy; there were BD and PCD all fluffy after their last bath, and lying by the stove, and wandering around the garden - pictures taken during their last few weeks. <sigh>

Four paracetamol and a nasal spray have depressed unpleasant symptoms for now, thanks Dot. :)
D'you know, I find it rather gratifying that the youngsters have gained knowledge which will always be arcane to me - especially when they're willing to use it for my benefit. ;):D

Conclusion of the techie session was that lappy's hard drive is damaged; it will no longer run W!ndows but appears to be working with U8untu. Am officially 'practicing' with the layout now before I forget - ha Flying Solo, because my mentor has departed - to justify delaying doing the washing-up. :o

Must say it feels lovely to be typing on lappy's familiar keyboard again. :) A substitute hard-drive is available, cannibalized from m'last expired laptop. Hopefully the current configuration will function until Visitor returns with the replacement. He seemed confident that it would :) (what a good job I gave him the defunct laptops for spares!). :D

Right, to the tune of "Robin Hood":
    Washing up, washing up,
    Here it comes again.. ;)

Re probate guy.. you are in a good position to find out if he is dodgy or not... If he usually deals with old ladies retiring to Spain he could possibly be targeting the vulnerable .. I hope not but sounds a little suspect.. I would be rather careful in taking a job from him ...
Loved your dream about blind dog.. We were awoken at five this morning to the sound of splash!!! Fat cat believing himself to be more dexterous than he is.. fell off the narrowboats roof and into the canal !!! O/h managed to grab him by the stomach and pull him in... rather un-dignified for a cat :) He is a good little swimmer I was quite surprised...:rotfl:x
Hope you feel better soon ..

He wanted the text for a company website including directors' profiles written up - without visiting the premises or meeting any of them, and using only the notes they provide.
I refused; impossible to guarantee the veracity of the information - therefore not something am prepared to put m'name to.
Plus have enough going on with paperwork at the moment and don't need the fee for that job.
    So it goes. :o

 Poor Fat Cat! Lucky for him that you and DH woke up in time to rescue him; canals are hard to climb out of!

Tomorrow top of my list is printing off the PPI forms, oh and find out more about Chappie's firm.

Time for a night-cap; hot chocolate wi' a splash of Baileys, yummy :p ..Sweet dreams, everyone. :)
  • :D

Enjoying catching up on your diary once again Robin!

Agreed - probate dude does sound dodgy! :p

Hope you enjoyed your baileys!! ;)
