Hello Diary and Dear MSE Readers, :hello:
Thanks for popping in Lindens, Lucky and Granny - don't get too close though, would hate to pass on this bug and you may object to a certain aroma which must surround me by now (couldn't manage dinner so just had garlic paste on toast instead, lol).
CD doesn't mind, and I reckon the germs are in full retreat - hope so because need a much clearer head to finish finding paperwork.
Not much time left.
Blackbird has competition this morning; the Finches are back, a noisy crew of at least thirty birds - looks like they're catching ants on the almond trees. All the fluff CD donated yesterday has disappeared - there's no wind so guess nest production has begun (Granny, the garden birds both at homehome and here have been using brushed-out fur to line their nests ever since we've had dogs which shed copiously - suppose it means the hen-birds don't have to pluck their own breasts to keep the chicks warm? A great solution for me too, avoids having to clear up piles of fluff which have a tendency to stick to clothes and fly into airways..).

Agreed - as is your upcoming holiday too, Granny!
Divo One has been quietly saving up for a very long time to give DIL her number-one bucket-list experience. Of course he'll enjoy it too, but what a wonderful gesture! :cool2:
Aaargh must get on with it; Accountant needs appeasing..
Sorry not had enough brain to post on other diaries - hope life is treating everyone well atm.0 -
Hope you get well soon Robin. I think most of us have had this bug unfortunately.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

Hello Robin - read your diary a long time ago - so nice to see you back!!! CD sounds like a very likeable lady too!
Good news on the garage man and log man! People often do have good hearts no matter what the press says!!! - actually in time of austerity I think people have better hearts than in time of plenty!!!!
KJ - so sad!!!0 -
Take good care Robin, hope tax affairs are sorted ok. I think just about all of us have a nightmare tax story.
Mine was a miscalculated belief a few years ago that monthly payments were covering my liability. They weren't and a £3000 bill resulted. An FB friend did similar this last tax year, theirs was double.
I loved the CD story of knowing why you were upset and how to prevent it happening again, what a clever dog indeed.
I have avoided the bug so far, but have seen some very poorly people around, do take as good care as you can.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Hello Diary and Dear Friends-in-the-Box, :hello:
Thanks for popping in Sun.A, Judi and Mcculloch. :TSun_Addict wrote:I think most of us have had this bug unfortunately.
Yes you're right Sun.A, I shouldn't make a fuss.
Reckon it's beaten now, although sleep / wake cycle is a bit topsy-turvy.
One positive though; another kilo lighter.judi24 wrote:Good news on the garage man and log man! People often do have good hearts no matter what the press says!!! - actually in time of austerity I think people have better hearts than in time of plenty!!!!
Hello Judi, welcome back to the Nest; lovely to 'see' you!
It's true, people do have good hearts.. Especially where there's still a strong sense of community..mcculloch29 wrote:Take good care Robin, hope tax affairs are sorted ok. I think just about all of us have a nightmare tax story.

Ouch! Must say, it's not a t-shirt I want to be awarded again - the sheer relief of opening Accountant's email and reading "All done!" was amazing - like losing another five kilos instantly, lol.mcculloch29 wrote:I loved the CD story of knowing why you were upset and how to prevent it happening again, what a clever dog indeed.
CD has been sooo good over the last few days. She had to be persistent - waking me two or three times while I was woozy - before I'd realise she wanted me to shut the door, and she didn't hassle for walks at all. To be fair the weather has been dangerously windy, so CD wasn't very interested in going out anyway..
Grocery shopping was achieved via the kindness of Plumber, not that yours truly has had much appetite recently.
Spends:
Groceries - [STRIKE]£60[/STRIKE] £45 (oops light-bulbs counted twice!).
Long-life bulbs (x 8, on offer) - £15
Fuel (Plumber) - £150 -
Glad you are feeling a bit better and that CD is still caring for you well

Good morning Diary and Gentle Readers, :hello:
Thanks for popping in, Granny. :T
Sleep / wake cycle still a bit squiffy, which is confusing CD.
Yesterday was tech-problem-day; D7son wasn't sucking, so that got dismantled, de-gunked and reassembled - result; clean carpets and armchairs.
Then looked at washing machine again. Mechanical parts all seem ok.. Electronics? Hmm. Nothing obvious, but, there are two parts to that; programme board and heating element / control. Maybe it would be worth trying a cold wash, before giving up on it?
Yay, success!
Sooo, short term solution. Now could either re-plumb water inlet so that it's fed from the boiler, or the other MSE option is to go and fetch a little used washer which is sitting idle at DH's cottages?
Would rather not fork out for a new machine atm, if it can be avoided.
Finally unpacked the last bags of shopping, revealing two packs of rechargeable batteries - explains why m' grocery bill was so high! Had forgotten about those [also on offer] - phew, £33 on groceries sounds a bit more reasonable than £45, lol.0 -
Hi robin, sorry you have been poorly. Glad you are recovering. rechargeable batteries are so much better! xx
