Hi Robin - we have our own hot weather at the moment. Not great for sleeping in and it's absolutely gutting me to be stuck indoors at work. Too hot for my dog too. Glad things are ticking over at the Nest.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

Just popping in to say :hello: Hope CD is feeling a bit better now she's eating again.
Take care of you both

Thanks all, ankle sore but in a neoprene thingy so cooler than a plaster cast but still hot!

Huge, huge hugs to you, Robin. Sorry I haven't been about but I've been thinking about you and CD.Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0

I'm sorry I have been missing, I'd like to add hugs and positive thoughts to you & CD at the moment. I hope he will be ok. My pesky doggy has decided he doesn't want to eat ANYTHING unless I am feeding it to him out of my hand :wall: and of course now i've started that I can't stop! I was too worried about him getting ill again to fight him though. Duke sounds like CD in the fact that he won't take his tablets (when he needs them) from anything but expensive hams! I tried cheese, cake (doggy cake that i especially made for hiding tablets and he just ate the cake and dropped the tablet!) but he was far too clever for that. We ended up force feeding it down his throat a few times and I cried every time afterwards (what a wuss I am
) But anyway I hope that the medication works, appetite returns and all ends well ....big big hugs xxx

Hello Diary and MSE Friends, :hello:
Thank you everyone who has popped in. :T
Clever Dog finished her pills on Sunday, then the crucial blood tests were done on Tuesday. Dear Vet calmed my fears somewhat by talking about the next series of checks; in four weeks, two and three months' time - rather suggesting that the results we're waiting for now will be good enough for DV not to recommend 'sacrifice' (as they call PTS here).
Waiting for DV to 'phone with results right now..
Before talking to DV, I was very unsure. CD's appetite has improved since m' last post, but she's got almost no energy - turns back before I do on our daily walks at sunset. At the Nest, most of the time she's asleep.
Don't think she is in pain, and it's still almost impossible to believe CD can only see out of one eye.
She has also had a couple of [STRIKE]adventures[/STRIKE] close shaves since m' last post:
One evening we were ambling towards the gate when CD suddenly leaped into the air, all four feet at once (just like a frolicsome lamb!). As her front paws fell towards what I thought** was a section of NN's abandoned water pipe which had blown across the drive, it shot from beneath her grasp and disappeared into the green-house! Cecil? Or a close friend of his. Was grateful he got away; if CD had managed to pin him down she would very likely have got herself bitten..
**without glasses.
Another day, I found one of my cuttings wilting in a pot which had apparently been knocked; half the earth scattered around it. Scooped it all back together, then put the pot into a large bucket of water.
Think it's been mentioned before that CD prefers her water to have a bit of 'taste'. She usually squeezes her nose into the bucket next to whichever pots are having a soak, rather than drink delicious fresh spring water from her own bowl.
Anyway. Half an hour after putting the knocked-and-repaired flower pot into the bucket, I noticed CD watching it intently.
Once again, lots of soil had been thrown out of the pot - this time the perpetrator was squatting in the bucket, glaring balefully at CD..
A common toad, large enough to overhang a saucer.
Highly toxic - a quick lick is lethal, even for healthy dogs!
..Toad and water were immediately relocated to NN's land, via a cliff which I hope it can't climb! Bucket got scrubbed out with bleach - CD hasn't been near it since, lol.
Irrigation Bloke's Cousin turned up eventually. He added a filter to the tank, and a meter with an old-fashioned dial** that shows at a glance whether the irrigation is actually running properly (needle whizzes round when it is!).
**Plumber's suggestion.
IB's system worked three times before the valve / timer jammed again.
Plumber has taken over; we're working on an alternative system based on the other one I made, bypassing IB's hopeless piece of kit - am fed up, have waited long enough for it to be sorted out - just want to give the wretched thing back to IB and knock 130€ off his bill.
Still having computer problems. Heard from Divo Two, he's done something rather silly which landed him in hospital. He'll be fine, but out of action for a few weeks. Can't bother him with my hassles atm.
The other Divos are all very busy. One is helping a mate to rebuild a holiday cottage in France, Four is back at work after his 'spiritual holiday' in the desert. Three found himself partying with a group of very privileged young people; said they were delightfully unaffected and accepted him despite the vast differences between their lives. Had to chuckle; can well imagine my charismatic son charming 'the smart set'! :rotfl:
Spends: Groceries - £20. Vet / meds - £35. Plumber - £50.
Apologies - must go, RL calling - Plumber wants me to see if the ironmongers' in the village stocks a couple of connectors we need.0 -
Sorry to hear about Divo Two's predicament, but glad CD is doing ok (amphibians and reptiles aside!). It's all go your end!
Take care XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j
Best win so far - holiday to Florida0 -
Glad the news isnt worse for CD. I keep her in my thoughts. Hope DS2 gets better soon.
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
