Getting cross: Does anyone know whether a land-line can block mobile numbers?
Irrigation HQ's number has been "busy" every time I've tried to call this week, which seems a bit unlikely.
Unfortunately problems with the system they've put in are increasing; water flow is now severely restricted for no obvious reason - the damaged valve being most likely?
Last night I had to water all except the bottom two terraces by hand again - at least have not yet paid their bill (but will be seriously [STRIKE]!!!!!! off[/STRIKE] annoyed if they've put m' mobile number on 'ignore').
On the other hand, can't help worrying about Grandpa - pretty sure he had a TIA in front of me last week; praying he got to the hospital in time but thinking, if he didn't that would explain why they're closed?0 -
Hello Diary, :hello:
I should be turning somersaults, right? CD is apparently still in remission from cancer - but - what on earth is going on with her then? Summat tells me it's going to be a long weekend..
Before then, a logistical problem; just realised the new door is too big to go in the back of the van. Oops. Supposed to be collecting it today.
Also - right now - supposed to be gathering paperwork for lawyer so better get on with it.
Hope everyone's Friday got off to a good start..0 -
Hello Robin,
Hope you don't mind me butting in, I have been following your diary for ages, it is so interesting. Anyway the reason I am posting is because CD seems to have the same symptoms as one of our old dog's had quite a few years ago now. She had a tumour (in her middle ear), arthritis in her back legs and failing eye sight due to cataracts. The vet wouldn't operate as she was too old, she was 17. She also had dementia, she would stand in the garden just staring into space and seemed in her own little world a lot of the time.
I hope they can get to the bottom of CDs problem, it is so hard when you can see something isn't quite right but you don't know what it is.
Tummy rubs to CD and best wishes to you Robin.0 -
Oh Robin I have just read all this, did not realise that so much time had passed, I have been remiss.
CD you lovely lady I hope DV can resolve the issues, as it does not seem to bother you I hope this continues. I have had a similar heartache with Doglet he is nearly totally blind in one eye and deaf now, such an old puppy hound but enjoying life in a slightly stiff legged way.
Life does seem to be chucking stuff around this year. Hope you can get the door, irrigation, garden, boiler, and so on sorted.
Wish I could fly down and drive back with you, as co driver supreme but as much I as would love it I cannot risk being away for so long.
Do hope you can find a resolution to these trials soon.
Much love and virtual hugsStart info Dec11

Hello Diary and Gentle Readers, :hello:
Welcome to the Nest, Just Me, thank you for posting.
Yes, CD has some of the same issues as your old dog - who you must have loved and cared for so very well for her to reach the grand age of seventeen!
Lovely to 'see' you again Missrlr.
Bless you for the thought of joining CD and self on our journey; although am certain we'd have loads of fun, and probably see some amazing sights along the way, unfortunately it's not the right time for you, is it? You've got something much more important to do with your days - which I do hope you're able to make the most of (((hugs))).
Well. Friday was a complete wash-out. Couldn't get rid of thumping head and was stumbling around even on flat surfaces, so had to cancel driving into town to see Lawyer.
Then Plumber cancelled too - a mate got him drunk at lunchtime.
Couldn't wait for bedtime.
Saturday began with a huge bill from the management company of DH's flat. Overdue, so paid at once: £1,100 - ouch!
Irrigation Bloke arrived unexpectedly; bounded up the steps with a big grin on his face, brandishing a new timer-valve - at last!
The mechanism of the old one was not just damaged but also blocked with strange grey slime, so IB scrambled up and took the cover off the water tank. He made me climb up to look inside too (easier to say than do - am not a fan of wobbly ladders perched 30cms from the edge of a cliff!).
..Yuk - it was horrible! IB disconnected all the pipes, asked for a broom then scrubbed out all the slime amid a torrent of water as the whole tank emptied onto the ground - also over yours truly, strategically positioned to extract clumps of slime by hand when the outlet blocked - therefore also in the path of the flow. Got soaked to the waist but in a perverse way, it was actually quite enjoyable! :rotfl:
(As was my shower afterwards, lol).
Oh - IB also brought good news - Grandpa is ok, back at home now, thank goodness.
Fingers crossed, looks like the irrigation is now working properly - hope that's one item which can be crossed off the list.
Today is the anniversary of DH's last day on Earth; very poignant for me, been 'alone' another year.. :A0 -
Caring thoughts to you and dear CD on this poignant day from Miss MM and her housekeeper. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0

Oh Robin your sad and poignant memory day today, I am thinking of you x x hope you feel better and not too tired after your slimed shower. Was it wrong of me to giggle a little at the image as seen through CD eyes of the mad humans playing with stinky water that you (probably) tell her off from attempting to drink? Goodness only knows where that one popped from but the slightly credulous expression of a beautiful dog just floated to my mind!
Wish I could take the trip with you, but daren't.
Instead we keep putting one foot in front of the other sometimes just to get to the next hour is an achievement!
Hope you feel better soon and have an operational irrigation system now! Take care not to overdo matters please!
Positive thoughts and hopefully some happy memories for you x xStart info Dec11
