Hello Missrlr, lovely to 'see' you, (((hugs))) and lots of empathy.. There are times when nothing beats a comfy sofa..Robin, there has to be a better way to lose weight, really there does! I do hope you're feeling better now as well as slimmer!debtfreewannabe321 wrote:Missrlr & Robin, I hope you are both back to good health soon. Well done on the weight loss though, just don't be tempted to weigh yourself once you're better as no doubt it will go back on (this always happens to me anyway ) I now live in blissful ignorance of my weight and only start to watch the sweets once my trousers are too tight
Hi Piq and DFw, thanks for popping in.
Must admit am not too keen on the current [unintended] diet regimen. Good point about weight probably reappearing, DFw - thanks for that insight which will doubtless prevent a disappointment soon enough, lol.please-let-me-be-lucky wrote:Hope you are fighting fit again soon RobinHeadAboveWater wrote:Get well soon robin Mmmmm Soup always the best food for when you're not quite your usual fit self!
Hello Lucky and HAW, Fighting fit hahaha :rotfl: Soup pot still going strong, thank goodness.
Actually I did pretty well until lunchtime; helped Gardener finish pruning the almonds, then some complete & utter moron set the municipal recycling skip alight.
It's a couple of kilometres away down the valley, but a horrendous cloud of burnt plastic and Lord knows what toxic fumes drifted straight at us on the wind.
Gardener ran away quick, CD and I hid inside with door, windows and shutters locked tight..
Woke up sneezing uncontrollably in a cold, dark room..
Thank goodness for onion soup say I. And antihistamines. :cool:debtfreewannabe321 wrote:As for the tenant issues I should think that you had plenty of reason to have a little moan, that rent owed to me wouldn't be a dent in what was owed to you. Very glad they've been in touch though and I hope you get paid soon
Oh crikey was it a moan? Thought more somewhere between concern and worry, m'self <mental note be more careful with words!>
Most of rent now arrived in a/c: May blessings rain down on dear T2.
House-guests** have been without hot-water in their bathroom since Friday night, so need a new boiler pronto - [STRIKE]tomorrow[/STRIKE] the morning might become complicated, because Gardener is expecting to work as well (rendering this time - she really is a most versatile assistant :T).
<** Can't really put T3 as they don't pay rent?>0 -
Hello Diary, :hello:
Oops; combination of headache-busting and anti-histamine pills not clever - boy was I stoned last night. Just as well there is no heavy machinery in the vicinity, lol.
..Had enough trouble lighting the stove! :rotfl:
Missed Gardener's call so she didn't turn up this morning; tbh a relief.
Still won't be a NSD though, so might as well stock up with other materials while collecting new boiler - get all the end-of-month spends in one day.
Must admit don't really feel up for a trip to town, but can't leave folks without hot baths for a moment longer than necessary - that's breaking the LL Code (of Good Practise). Even though DS2 & GF aren't really 'tenants' (said they were expecting to pay for a new boiler themselves, but can't afford it within the next month - bless!).0 -
Hello Diary, :hello:
Yesterday did not go to plan.
Divo Two and I got bogged down in discussing exactly what type of boiler he and GF would prefer.
It was a relief to abandon rushing into town as by then had run out of puff; lit the stove and went to bed (forgot to eat dinner, lol).
This morning DS2 & GF sent me a link to their choice; from a city warehouse so not a location I'm happy going to. They can collect it themselves and save £70. Great.
Confession time: Not a NSD even though I didn't go to town. Ordered a garden chipper/shredder. With any luck it will be delivered tomorrow, in time for Gardener's next visit. Instead of having untidy piles of cut branches lying about - something of a fire-risk - we shall create luverly useful mulch.
..Am calling it my xmas present to the Nest; managed to get £50 discount so it was a good deal. Still feel a bit guilty though.
It's been bone-cold all day so CD and I trekked up the ridge to see how much snow is lying on the mountain peak. An ambition frustrated by mucky low cloud; ah well.
However, it wasn't a wasted trip as far as CD was concerned because her favourite scrumping orchard lies conveniently on the way home (yes, Muggins did help carry her haul of avocados).

Thanks for popping in, Granny.
This week is passing in a daze; maybe an after-effect of the bug inhaled from an unknowing visitor, or perhaps vestiges of poisoning from the skip-fire fumes?
Either way; feel useless.
It's Black Friday. Who decided upon that name? Odd.
Last year I sent some charity gifts from The River's sale offerings, but today..
Chose, then chickened out of a couple of deals before paying. Would I select that particular item if it wasn't on The Black Friday rolling list? No. Decision made.
Tbh other charities have more urgent need of funds atm.
What a laughable waste of time, especially given that this morning had to begin with a complaint to the same company because the Nest's xmas chipper did not arrive yesterday.
Local Customer Service get full marks for bawling out the carrier - a company famed for failing to recognise any address outside city limits - and they have promised to refund the charge for express delivery (wasted anyway because DS1 has 'borrowed' Gardener today).
Courier just 'phoned, sounds like a jolly chap but a rule-breaker; our call was interrupted when his voice suddenly became faint as he shouted:
"Wait! Wait! Police!" ..Told him I'd talk to him when he'd pulled over and turned off his engine. Silly man.
He's in for an initiative test; wonder how long it will take him to find the village, which is signposted and only about ten miles off a motorway?
CD is being very vocal; says she is hungry. So she's eaten her chicken, and a tin of tuna, but refused dog biscuits. Every ten minutes or so she bounces in and sings to me. Am handing over her stash of windfall avocados one by one; assume she's burying them around the garden, lol. Well, so long as she keeps away from the spud terrace, why not? Any she forgets to retrieve, might grow - win-win! :rotfl:
Again seems like ages since I've had enough brain to visit other diaries; do hope life is treating everyone well this week.0 -
Hi Robin - hope you are feeling better by the time you read this. On the news this morning they said Black Friday was so called because it's to do with being in the black as opposed to being in the red. Whatever - I've not fallen for the hype myself. Saw the photos of people being arrested on The Mail Online - crazy!!!!I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0

Yet another crazy craze brought over from the States - not one I have any great wish to follow
Hope you are feeling a bit brighter now Robin and CD is enjoying her avocados

Hello Diary and Dear MSE Friends, :hello:
Sending prayers to the folk of Glasgow today.
How ironic that eye-witnesses are being interviewed for TV in front of a sign which reads "A Celebration of the Human Spirit"..Sun_Addict wrote: »Hi Robin - hope you are feeling better by the time you read this. Hello Sun.A and Granny, thanks for posting. :T
Black Friday celebrates a good financial position? How ridiculous (and very American)! News coverage of [what I would call] a riot in A$da was truly shocking; hope the Police catch that guy who ripped a TV out of a woman's arms then trampled her when she fell. Absolutely disgusting behaviour!
Am now doubly glad I did not succumb to joining in.
It is time to be making some preparations for the festive season though - currently living in the middle of a field isn't an excuse, lol.
DS1 & family can be ticked off, and DS4 ('plane tickets). DS3 has been talking about taking another diving course during his festive break - not sure if it's a hint or not, but could be the simplest way of avoiding extortionate postage fees.
DS2, GF and DGD? ..No idea what to get any of 'em.
Going into town shortly, so will have a look around..0 -
Yes indeed, thoughts go out to the people of Glasgow today x
Haven't seen the news re black Friday riots but OH told me about tv man and woman - shocking
Hope you manage to get exactly what you think is suitable for rest of loved ones in town
Are you feeling better today dear friend

Definitely thinking of those in Glasgow, and also the family of the guy killed in the Black Friday stampede in Walmart in America. Disgusting behaviour.
