Help with cancelling mobile contract
Comments
-
Ok. You agreed a contract and Orange have no obligation to cancel it. However, you are doing the right thing by appealing to their goodwill to see if they are prepared to do anything. I wouldn't hold my breath, though.
So, practical advice if they won't.
1. How much longer do you have on your own contract? Would it be cheaper to buy out yours and transfer your number (assuming it isn't Orange) to his contract?
2. How much would CEX or similar pay for the handset?
3. Anyone you CAN trust - Dad/Mum etc - coming to the end of their contract? If so, transfer their number to the contract and cancel their old one.
It is all a matter of making the best of a bad decision and reducing your exposure to costs.0 -
Would you be impressed if somebody sent a bill for you to your boss to ensure that they get it?Send him a bill for the balance via his CO so that you know he gets it and doesn't put it in the bin.
All that will happen is that it is passed to the admin staff (even IF it gets anywhere near the CO) and they will put his section address on it and put it in the internal mail. The army will not get involved in what, in reality is a domestic/civil dispute. His defence? 'It wasn't in my name so I have no liability'This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
No I wouldn't, but then I wouldn't have put myself in that situationWould you be impressed if somebody sent a bill for you to your boss to ensure that they get it?
Quite agree and the suggestion was not intended to involve the Army to intervene but rather to demonstrate that the OP does not intend to let it drop. All that will happen is that it is passed to the admin staff (even IF it gets anywhere near the CO) and they will put his section address on it and put it in the internal mail. As you say he has no legal liability but certainly has a moral one which he seems to want to ignoreIt's not just about the money0
