What have i done, ive just found out that yodel are, well turns out not delivering my wedding dress.... this could be disasterous!
Not to sound awful but it probably will end badly. My experience of them has been more than just 'unlucky'... everytime Yodel have been involved in a delivery/collection they've failed to do what they said they would do on not only the first but second and third attempts!
I hope things go ok though.0 -
I would try intercepting the wedding dress at the actual depot if you can get to it.0

Good old Yodel delivered my item worth £250 and left it behind the plant pot on the front door step which is where is stayed and somehow didn't get stolen before I returned from my holibobs 10 days later!!Life is a rollercoaster.....ya just gotta ride it:whistle:0

They're allowed to leave items that don't require a POD,Where is safe is open to interpretation. Most people are glad if things are left as they are at work and so will never be in during normal delivery times. This is me speaking from vast experience of probably delivering more parcels/collections myself over the years(probably around 1/2 million or so items) than there have been total complaints on the internet about the company. You hear more of what people don't like, than what they do afterall.
The driver wouldn't know you were on holiday and most people wouldn't order something and then go off on their jollies.Maybe it was ordered well in advance and was late, I don't know.
I used to work for them and sometimes people would tell me if they were going on holiday and expecting something. In those cases, I would make a note on their parcel and it would be stored until their return but that is not something that can be done for every parcel indefinitely as it wouldn't take long before a depot is full to bursting.
I can see peoples points about the promises made and the taglines, when I saw them for the 1st time I just laughed as they were promising something they didn't have the resources to put into practice(imo).0 -
We had Yodel problems last week. Online account said that it had been (DOP) delivered on paper. This means we had apparently signed for it - but not on their computerised system. Of course, we hadn't.
Called customer service who actually turned out to be quite nice. They gave us the mobile phone number of the person in charge of the deliveries who we called the next morning. Looks like he subs his jobs out to someone else who promised it would be delivered that day (one day late). We called regularly throughout the day and pestered them until eventually it turned up.
The driver was in a right mood and swore at my husband and said the job had cost him £60...not our problem actually because we paid for next day delivery which we didn't get.
We complained about his attitude and were told it would not happen again - we also suggested they give their drivers less to do so they don't become so stressed.
it seems that Yodel sublet their job who go on to sub them again. No one has any level of responsibility.
We were impressed that we got the mobile number though...0 -
Wish I'd been lucky enough to speak to whoever you spoke to nzmegs - I had a parcel card through my door today saying that my £75 highchair had been left 'in a safe place'. Their delivery system is still showing it as out for delivery, the call centre person who eventually answered my call after 22 minutes on hold says that they don't issue their drivers with mobiles so they can't contact the driver who may or may not still have my highchair, and may have taken it back to the depot, ticked the wrong box on the card and not updated the delivery system.
Or he may have done what the last Yodel courier who tried to deliver to me did - apparently decided that 'a safe place' was leaning against the wall on the pavement, right on the street. That parcel was either stolen by some passer by, or taken home by the courier and put on eBay. Wouldn't put it past them...
Best suggestion they have at the moment is to see what the delivery system says tomorrow, then if it says the parcel's been delivered I have to contact Boots and get them to open a dispute. Otherwise, assume the courier is going to try and redeliver. Maybe. If you lend someone £20 and never see them again, it was probably £20 well spent...0 -
Yodel need to sort it out, the company is a joke =/ They have a dreadful name and no one will willingly use them for deliveries... Given the choice I'd pay extra to AVOID the use of Yodel.0

The last month or so has been one of the most stressful of my life and it's all because Yodel is part of it.
I ordered a toothbrush from Amazon, they delivered it and supposidly put the item in my bin even though there was nothing in there. Had to get the item re-delivered (Thank you to Amazon for being prompt with this).
I ordered then a few days later some Headphones from Amazon, they delivered them to me but it wasn't what I was looking for. I logged on to arrange a return, Yodel were meant to pick it up on the 10th but didnt bother, they then rescheduled to today and didnt bother. I called up their call centre and was told 'Your not our customer, go ring Amazon if you want to complain abou the service'....
In the mean time I ordered a replacement pair of headphones but from another company in the hope to avoid Yodel... but guess what, they struck again! Item was meant to be delivered on the 10th (Paid extra delivery) but shock horror... again they didn't bother to deliver! They ended up rescheduling it to the 13th and finally delivered it to me passing it to someone else and saying I signed for it.
So that's 3 occasions I've experienced Yodel and all 3 times they've been GOD AWFUL!
Why do companies use them.. they're just a joke. I spoke to someone in Yodel CS about the service and got the standard cut and paste response of 'We strive to ensure all our customers receive an excellent level of service and I can only apologise for the delay and for the undoubted inconvenience this has caused'
I love the claims on their website also
"Delivered with a can-do attitude" - You give me attitude whenever I speak to your company but I wouldn't say it was Can-Do.
"Your delivery so your call how it works" - You keep rescheduling so it's not my call?
"We've arrived" - No you havent... you failed to on 2 occasions!
I've had the same problem.
My kindle died so I called Amazon and they sent a replacement that arrived next morning by Royal Mail special delivery.
I then had to put the broken one in the box and arrange collection using an on-line code they gave me. It was Yodel who were the courier.
I chose a day and it was all confirmed. They didn't turn up, I called Yodel and they re-scheduled and again they didn't turn up.
I called Amazon and they were fantastic. Take it to the Post Office and send it recorded. Either send us the receipts or if you have a scanner, scan them and email them to us and we'll refund yo the postage. I did the latter and Amazon refunded the postage.
Yodel are rubbish, they are just the current name, the used to be Home Delivery Network and probably something else before that. As soon as the public make enough noise about them they are rebranded. New name but same rubbish service.
Something else I ordered from another company was delivered by them. I paid extra for next day delivery but by mid afternoon I was starting to wonder! Yodel had given me a mobile number for their courier so I called them. I could hear a woman and some children shouting in the background and was told it would be delivered the next morning. When I told him I'd paid for next day delivery he got annoyed and said there was no way he was driving 40 miles to deliver one parcel!
He turned up the next day, Saturday, in a Ford Fiesta with his wife and children in the car. Apparently they like to hang on to parcels until they've got enough to make the journey worthwhile, he was moaning that the trip to me would cost him money and didn't seem to care that I'd payed for next day.
I called the company I'd bought the item from and they ended up refunding me the full delivery cost. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
Sounds about right for Yodel to the above poster! Apparently they sub contract a lot of work out... poor all round! As you'll said they'll probably be a new company soon, their call centre staff are shocking though, I suppose if you have customers moaning at you all day because Yodel are so naff you'd be less than 'happy to help'.0
