There's nothing to stop you taking & passing your HGV now, then waiting 'till May to have the entitlement added.
The pass certificate is valid for 2 years & the upgrade is free, they will also remove any spent convictions at the same time...free
Sensible approach.
I don't see the OP needs to come on here and perform an act of contrition. They were caught and have since then avoided any further fines which implies a lesson learnt.
I'd be looking to see how long it takes to pass the test if it what you really want to do OP. If it is a while then you won't have too long to wait until you are able to start applying for jobs (on completion).
Also, I was going to say learning now while the weather is decent should be a bonus but we haven't exactly had a summer.

You don't have to take a retest after a totting ban. Theoretically the court could order it, but that would be unusual. Generally the power to require people to retake their test is only used where there are doubts about a driver's basic competence, particularly with elderly drivers whose faculties seem to be on the way out.forgotmyname wrote: »Some maybe laughing that your attempting an expensive course with 9 points and could get banned and possibly have to take a retest.0 -

That is a different section of the RTA.
The previous quotes clearly refer to the court's discretionary power to order a driver to re-sit their standard driving test.
DD relates to a mandatory extended re-test and is a different issue.0 -

Oh. In that case I must take an interest in skydiving safety.0 -
