Is that five years free of issues in May? Not too bad if you learned the lessons.

Probably a good idea to see if there are jobs out there though. No idea if you live in haulage central but if you are going to invest in a new career it might be a good idea to ensure there will be places out there for you.

    5t.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?
  • yes 5 yrs done and dusted.. not bad seeing as though iv had my licence for 23 yrs.
Some training companies say it wont be an issue, some havnt got back to me yet
  • With those points I would certainly hope that no employer would even consider you.

I'm by no means perfect and although I don't drive my OH who does has never had any points and agrees with me actually!

We all do things wrong but we should learn from them and getting points for a bald tyre is hardly minor and not the best for driving HGV vehicles. Also I see no sign that the OP thinks that they were wrong in speeding.

hi, first time user. Need advice on HGV training as i have penalty points on my licence till next may. Will this hinder my chances of getting work in the industry as im using my redundancy to fund the training.... cheers for any help given

There's nothing to stop you taking & passing your HGV now, then waiting 'till May to have the entitlement added.

The pass certificate is valid for 2 years & the upgrade is free, they will also remove any spent convictions at the same time...free ;)

Some maybe laughing that your attempting an expensive course with 9 points and could get banned and possibly have to take a retest.

Dont even think about the course until you have sent your licence back and it comes back clean.

Speeding.. Well i got a ticket for speeding. 70mph dual carriageway. With roadworks.
    So reduced limit of 30mph.
3 weeks later the roadworks have moved down to the roundabout. But the signs were left over 1/2 a mile back from the new work.
I was doing 40mph as i passed the sign.

But it wasnt worth the effort fighting it. With lost wages etc.

Interesting where you stopped the quote!

Just because I personally don't drive doesn't mean that I have no interest in road safety. Others have also expressed concern at the plan.

He hasn't got 9 points for "totting up" purposes.... just insurance!
