What is your net worth?

Options
After the 'What would you do with £1M thread', I wondered for how many posters that was a daily challenge :D

So how much are you really worth, after subtracting mortgage, overdrafts, CC debt etc. and using a sensible valuation of your house(s).

Be honest now!

I only "got a few bob" but am satisfied with that as 4 years ago I had a really heavy (£40k) cc debt so at least this is progress in the right direction.

What would be interesting for me would be to do this exact same poll a year from now and see if I've managed to move up a category

If I sold everything I own I guess I'm worth around fifteen grand... more if you include both kidneys :rotfl:

Comfortable, but excluding 100k equity (since I can't do much with that) it's got a few bob

Being a Lloyd's 'name' used to be the way to make assets work twice, maybe it still is?

Net worth isn't the real story. I'm 'comfortable' but most of my money is the equity in the house. Its free income thats more important in most circumstances. There are plenty of broke higher rate taxpayers around whilst I know others who live in council houses but have fair amounts in savings and good pensions.

This calculation is not easy due to CGT. How do you work out the CGT payable on a property bought ages ago which isn't your PPR?

Surely you need an accountant to do the sums for you e.g. taper releif and stuff?
