Yeah, but what if a child needed the money for a life-saving operation? You would all not be so quick to jump on the OP and call them unreasonable then would you, eh?

You really typed this and clicked send ? My word.
I suppose if you completely ignore the fact they have a large high-street presence and have been going for over 100 years, then yes they could be considered not to be 'reputable' or acting without honour.

Well, if you consider maintaining legality to be sufficient to qualify a company as 'reputable', then yes, most large companies are.

However, if you hold companies to somewhat higher standards, then there are a lot of things that large companies do that, whilst legal, would disqualify them from being considered unambiguously 'reputable'.

Things such as selling warranties that are both overpriced and all but useless, becoming involved in 'cashback' schemes with terms and conditions designed to make it extremely difficult to claim your entitlement, and burying clauses designed to catch people out deep in the terms and conditions.

Even employing unqualified youths with little product knowledge who then 'advise' customers - often causing them to buy inappropriate goods - could be considered less than completely reputable.

I knew someone would come out with various things like that, all I was meaning to do was draw a comparison between their business and, say, Big Jim's Laptop Hut, Est. 2012. In that sense they are a longstanding and solvent company who are extremely unlikely to renege on this particular offer - I deliberately didn't make any comments on their businesss practices.

Yes, I realised that your post wasn't suggesting that they were 'whiter than white'.

It just seemed a good place to tag the comment.

I agree that in this case they are all but certain to pay up.

  • Say what you like, but until I receive my cheque I have no reason to beleive they are acting honorably. I have emailed them and had no response. So far they have not demonstrated to me that they are "reputable".

I love crazy people. They amuse me.

    Got my cheque today:):j
  • how are people getting cheques, cash for goals rules are they only transfer money directly into your account. anyhow, 10 pound for every England goal scored is not 50 pounds its 20 pounds as they only scored 2 goals. but I am having problems claiming as cannot get past stage 2, keeps highlighting 4 boxes to check details, and codes are correct, emailed currys twice and no response, rang them yesterday afternoon, and they said my codes are correct and theres a problem on their side, and give it 48 hours. are they telling all customers that, so eventually the 2 week deadline is over? any1 else having same problem?
  • sorry, cash for goals is for 2012, im on about 2014 world cup, is any1 else having problems claiming?

Surely until the cheque doesn't arrive in early, you have absolutlely no reason to believe they are acting dishonourably. And as for describing it as a scam... Get a grip.
