This matters if used on a laptop as sometimes the lead is not long enough, my Dell has the microphone socket on one side and the usb on the other.:rolleyes2

I've yet to work out how to get the audio working at the moment, though it's not a big issue to me and will be difficult considering the length of the cable unless I can get an extension for the usb and mic plugs.
judging from that excerpt from the review on amazon i assume they are seperate0 -
I can certainly recommend the Mikomi 1.3megapixel webcam from
Argos. It costs £24.99 and is the best of the lower priced ones, since it has the highest pixel rating and is the only one which comes with integrated microphone rather than headphones. I tried the Quickcam Express first, at £17.99 but the picture quality was truly terrible and the motions per frame were really slow, so I exchanged it for the Mikomi, which I'm delighted with.
So with the exception of the amazing Amazon deal which has now finished, it seems that you get what you pay for with webcams.
Hope that helps! :-)0 -
Im a real cheapskate.... got one on ebay for under £3 including postage!!0

Again, Amazon must have noticed the quick increase in the visit count on the product page which made them increase the item price dramatically. Also another important thing to note is the seller. The Market Place and Used sellers usually advertise cheaper prices, but they will cost a minimum of £4-£5 more for postage. Apologies if this is a repeat post.0

Lots of bargains (including webcams for < £2) can be found at http://www.nimisis.com/halfpricebargains/UK/0

...also useful webcam software can be found at http://www.nimisis.com/software.php such as applications to make time lapse movies, long exposure images, security software etc.0

Is the sound via the usb lead? or do you have to plug a lead into the soundcard as well.
There are some 1.3 mp interpolated cameras on the Amazon site for £1.99,+ postage.
sorry for the delay.:o You have to plug the wire for the sound but the wires are 12" long each (not including the usb and sound end bits)from the join of the webcam wire,so that a total of 24" inbetween to fit your laptop if its got holes in opposite ends.Hope you understand as im not good at explaining.0 -
I can recommend an affordable cam for laptops, Logitech QuickCam Express for Notebooks. I have been using one for almost 2 years, good value for money, not a high quality one..0

The creativecam has gone down to £19.99 now! There must be some kind of counter on there which monitors the traffic.0
