I hate to step into this argument, but I am afraid that Raising the Participation Age begins this year, with the current Y11 students. My stepson is compelled to stay in school/FE/Training until 1st September after his 17th birthday, which is next year.

I like Dunroamin.
I haven't been around for a while so not sure what type of posts have been made, but wouldn't have thought they would have changed much from blunt and to the point.
I'm sure we have disagreed in the past on things but she is someone who I would value input from, especially as my eldest daughter reaches post 11 education.
Many people don't like blunt and to the point advice [ I don't - but then I am a flowers and hugs type person
]. Sometimes though, blunt and to the point is what's needed. There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0 -
And as I said she used to make valid points. But recently a lot of her posts have been nasty. I am just pointing that out. If that makes me nasty I am not bothered. You are not real people in my life.
You all seem very chummy on here. There is a real world out there you know. You can leave your homes and actually speak to people. They do not bite.0 -

From the summer of 2013 you must be in one of the following until the end of the academic year when you turn 17:- full-time education
- an apprenticeship
- full-time employment (over 20 hours a week) with part-time education

I'm hardly here.
I don't know a few of these posters, so could hardly consider us 'chummy'.
Why do you feel the need to be rude? There is something delicious about writing the first words of a story. You never quite know where they'll take you - Beatrix Potter0 -

Leaving school is not the issue, you can leave school but still must go on to further training as shown in Pipkins post. So I am afraid it is OMO who is wrong.
As for the real life comment....yes, none of us have jobs, families, friends or indeed lives!!;)0 -
